my roommate and i looove the thing (its one of my favorites) and we're in the mood to watch something relatively similar. not similar in subject matter, but in the amazing special effects, the beautiful lighting, the suspense and ambiguity, you know .. all the things that make that movie so special lol. we're looking for something surprising and scary!

So the thing is part of John Carpenters apocalypse trilogy. You should watch the other two. They’re called Prince of Darkness and In The Mouth of Madness (which is the better one of the two IMO)
