Launching steam will sometimes lock up my Linux screen, but audio still works (lemmy.ml)

So when i launch steam everything else up, fire Gnome music, it will all show a application failed, then it will freez my entire system but again audio is fine. this is annoying does anyone else have this same issue?

Back ground shaders? I think mine is turned off
