You're not exactly the paragon of impartial argument in this thread my man. Anyone willing to read your post for anything besides laughing at your expense after your tirades here is doing you a solid.
You've got no evidence, no perspective, really nothing but yelling at the internet because youve got a minority position and don't like it.
If you've got those things, trot them out, bro.
Edit: you have some sanely and thoughtfully written comments further down (that I would still disagree with), but the bad ones sure floated to the top.
I mean, what do you want? This post isn't exactly an opener to some great venture in dialectics as you crafted it. It looks like whining instead of discourse, people are saying that to you (albeit coarsely) and you're biting your thumb at them. I guess I wouldn't do anything too different if the shoe were on the other foot... but still, this isn't about some random user or me, it's about you mostly. You had a pretty fair amount of actual discussion with @Shit but otherwise real substance is pretty sparse.
But anyway sure let's go. I'm new to the fediverse and my very first post was in this group. On reddit, all I saw was back breaking efforts to make conservatives feel safe: every conservative sub I dropped into was one comment insta-ban for out-group opinions, almost as bad as r/sino. T_D lived a full and festering life despite breaking sitewide rules about brigading and bringing national notoriety to the platform. r/conservative was quick to set up safe spaces for approved and flaired users only to comment. Even r/askconservatives was quick to deliver a kick in the nuts if you get to pointed. The only thing I saw, even in r/politics which I think is about as lefty as it gets, was gratuitous downvoting. To the point, I think there just aren't as many people on the internet that hold hardline conservative beliefs. There may be some discussion to be had by people like me who don't mind playing the devil's advocate, but by and large I think when you are online you're in the minority. In strangely fitting way, that's the position a conservative viewpoint puts minority positions into in the real world and it just doesn't seem very fun when nobody wants to tolerate you beyond acknowledging that you exist. Maybe your experience is different than mine: that would be the evidence and perspective that makes this a discussion worth having. I still kinda wish this was all about a topic that wasn't a meta topic.
For not wanting to work at social media, you are definitely exhibiting some true grit in responding to basically every comment, lol.
So there are some one word posts that are definitely trolling you. However, there are others that say "yeah you've got a minority position" or "you haven't substantiated your position" or "you're on the wrong platform". I agree with both of those, but you've got about a 50% hit rate of just calling them trolls or telling them they are lying. This is your post after all, did you mean only to get answers that agree with you? I think because you set up the perspective of conservative persecution from the beginning, people are having knee jerk reactions.
Idk if this markup will work, but it's your comment and my quote because I think it goes better here. I don't think you've got a 90% hit rate on trolls, but it is fair to say that the opinions you want to read from users whose perspectives matter to you are hard to find. To cough up examples for you, I'm reminded of minority only study areas / computer labs / clubs that occasionally go on blast, same for various months (pride month / black history month / etc), pride events, drag events: these are all basically the same response to cutting through the vocal and dismissive 90% majority to find other people with the same opinions / perspectives. I guess it does sort of cut both ways w.r.t. conservatives online and antivax or preppers or what have you, but everyone wants to find their "tribe" / be taken seriously in any case.
After a little digging around, I agree with you that hard evidence of T_D brigading is scant. However, the evidence of manipulation of r/all, of amazon reviews, and of "battles" between subs seems to be plentiful. I will admit I'm not familiar with the other subs (ahs srd) and had to look them up. Like I said I'm not aware of dissension-related bans in r/politics, but I am aware of them in conservative spaces so it's not that unlikely. To my original point, I can think of more explicitly conservative spaces on reddit than I can think of explicitly liberal spaces. I think they got the kid glove treatment just as much if not more as lefty spaces to avoid the perception of being too hard on conservative viewpoints, which trump made a major talking point when networks and sites stopped carrying HIS content.
I might go find your gun post as a gun-toting lefty... and as a side note, lemmy does a really trash job of showing the whole context of a thread so sorry if I'm missing any talking points between posts.
