I still prefer a 2-point sling for AR-style pistols. It's easier to brace if you have the front sling mount right in front of your support hand to push on. Blue Force Gear Vickers sling is quality. You might still be able to sign up for the cop/military discount without having to provide proof on their website. The quick adjust feature is nice for using this bracing method.
That said, I would not get a 223/556 this short ever. First and foremost, I doubt it would function reliably with such little dwell time. The fireball and recoil will be awful. I think even 10.5" is a bit too short for that caliber. You aren't even getting enough speed to get good tumbling and fragmentation on impact. It's a total waste of what that cartridge was designed for. You'd just making a .22" little hole in your target.
Why not get a 300 blackout or pistol-caliber carbine? Those cartridges are designed for barrels that short and they make bigger holes.
If you just want a cheap AR, there are much better options for that price.
thanks for all the good tips, but it's too late I already bought it... if it's not reliable though, I will return it and try the 300 blackout. I will also give Blue Force Gear Vickers sling a serious look. Thanks again.
Ah well, it should still go bang and be fun. Heavier ammo tends to work better for small barrels. Open tip, hollow points, soft points, bonded soft points will do a bit more for defensive or hunting purposes.
And for the sling, do you know how you'll mount it in the back? You could replace that back plate with one that has a QD mount. I think there are clamp-on options too. IDK there's probably other creative ways.

Unironically suggesting the SKS as a usable rifle in the 21st Century when there are things like the AK and AR that cost only a bit more might result in a ban, it depends on how we feel.
Discussion of hunting is acceptable but please put "CW: hunting" in post titles. Debating the ethicality of hunting is also fine, but keep it civil and don't derail other people's threads.

Damn it never occurred to me to do that.

thanks for the backplate w/ QD mount tip, I wish it would have came with it though, looks like a bit of a pain to install
