Having come from a tiny screen CRT in the 80s to a 27” I still use, my first ultrawide was 49”. 34” feels like what comes after 27”. Why is it ultrawide?

Coming off of a terrible customer service experience with an attempted repair of an LG monitor, I recently got two defective Odyssey Neo G9’s directly from Samsung. Each one of them had multiple dead pixels. I returned the first and took a chance on ordering a third from Amazon instead in the hopes of “3rd time is the charm”.

I was looking at the AW3821DW also but the edge local dimming was one of the biggest things I disliked about the LG I had. Does anyone have any comments on this monitor?

I also can’t get oled due to the nature of my job and using my monitor for work and gaming about 70/30 split.

I tried out a curved ultra wide monitor at Best Buy and I didn't like it at all and it was very glary. Granted it was an OLED and it was a gaming Alienware 49 in. I would be looking at something like an IPS 34-38 in. But it was just very weird feeling and hard to see windows at the curve points. I'm worried I won't like it and might just should stick with a flat UW. Anyone think I'll eventually get used to curve or should stick with flat UW first?

This is for productivity multitasking multiple windows office work.

First of all, I HAVE ASCENDED!

BUT...

I just got this Corsair FLEX in today and I ran a screen test. Noticed this streaking and am now wondering if I need to return this and get a replacement. The lines are most noticeable on the gold colored screen I think. I havent really noticed this while gaming, but I also haven't spent a ton of time on it. I don't expect this kind of streaking from a ~2k monitor.

Got a new Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 from Samsung UK about a month ago and yesterday I noticed a black spot. I can't tell if it's a dead pixel, dust or a bug.

It's hard to explain but it kind of doesn't seem to be on the same "plane" as the monitor itself and it gets fuzzy when you look at it from an off-angle.

Any suggestions?

Hi there, this will probably the first and only time I'll post here, but I really need some help

TlDr, I want to buy an ultrawide, and as such, I spent around 2 days looking up what monitor to buy, and at the moment, I have my eyes set on a Huawei MateView GT 34'', which seems to be the best for it's price range (around 400-500€)

I've also trying to look up other monitors on the same price range, or even a bit more expensive that are worth the extra €€€, but until now, I haven't found anything better than the Huawei one.

As for what I want a ultrawide for, other than gaming, is for productivity, as I make music, and having the extra real estate would improve my workflow.

I also use blender from time to time, which I believe would benefit from a longer screen.

So, my question is, is there a better ultrawidd (if possible, curved) monitor compared to the Huawei MateView GT 34'' for around the same price, or 100-200€ more expensiv?

Thank you in advance!

Currently have an Acer X34 and looking to do some upgrades to my computer from the 2080 TI to a 4080 or a 7900 XTX and have been thinking if this should be paired with a new monitor. Would going from the Acer to the OLED Alienware be a considerable upgrade or would a G9 Neo be a better change (or, while not ascension, the G8 32” curved 4K)?

I just want to take a moment to appreciate the ultra wide support for shadow of tomb raider it is the best ultra wide support I have seen in any game I've played ,which mind you is not a lot on my monitor yet, but it really is a beauty to play so thank you creators of shadow of tomb raider!!!

I have the original Mac Studio M1 Max and wondering if this monitor will be usable with it. This is 100% a productivity monitor (for the time being at least), gaming is not a factor in the decision. I had the original 49" G9 then recently upgraded to the 49" Oled G9. Really hoping the 57" is somehow usable at full resolution without needing to upgrade my Mac Studio....

Burn in after 5000ish hours of use.

Firmware: M0B101

Standard mode/HDR400 w/ brightness/contrast set at 75%.

Howdy all,

I think I'm one of the first consumer users of the AW3423DW since I got mine off FB marketplace 2 weeks before launch. Used heavily (8 hrs+ daily) since. Mostly web browsing with some gaming here and there. Only now just noticed the chrome tabs burned in at the top 2 weeks ago.

I'm familiar with OLED so knew it was just a matter of time. It's annoying me now enough that I'm looking where to go from here. Not a fan of the super ultrawide stuff, but most of what I'm considering (AW3821DW, X38S, etc.) seems kinda dated compared to what I'm already using. Plus I miss features my PG348Q had that this didn't (built-in speakers, crosshair). Might be premature but what did y'all move on to from those in a similar situation?

I've tried to use the HDR on my AW3423DWF multiple times now with the result being, that I switch back to non HDR every time. I don't know what it is but for me HDR (especially HDR 1000) just looks grayish and undersaturated.

I especially noticed this when playing Elden Ring.

As you can see in the two pictures the colors are completely different.

Besides the colors being, in my opinion, way less saturated, HDR also changes the red blood flame colors to a very orange like normal fire color.

Also when playing genshin with HDR on the game is just way too bright that you can't even call it playable.

I've noticed these changes also in normal desktop use. E.g when i just looks at my windows settings tab, having any HDR enabled, the usually black/gray window has a slight orange tint to it.

Is there a way to fix this or is that just how HDR works/is ?

Has this something to do with SDR enhanced games or will i also encounter such problems when i play something like RDR2 with seperate HDR support.

i have tried using the Windows HDR calibration app, but that app is totally buggy for me (sliders disappear while trying to calibrate).

Firmware updated to: M3B103

HDR OFF

HDR PEAK 1000

I just updated firmware yesterday and I noticed this after updating, when windows HDR is off I can edit whatever settings I want, when windows HDR is on many settings are disabled. What setting should I enable along with HDR 1000? I see conflicting opinions with game mode and/or creator mode. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I currently need a work station/gaming monitor and I'm really leaning towards an ultrawide, ideally one that is good with both.

I have a mac that connects to my monitor, this is for personal productivity, and also my work laptop which has all the programs/tools I use on a daily basis. The Macbook I connect is strictly for personal productivity like researching new topics, and my own personal writing and coding and editing projects. I also have a gaming PC which I use only for games, and an ipad for media consumption.

In terms of games I mainly play SoT, Warzone, Fortnite, WoW classic, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Lord of the rings online, and Skyrim. If anyone that has an ultrawide has experiences with these games please let me know!

My question is: What ultrawide monitor do you all think is the best for my use-case? I recently began splitting 3 tabs side by side with my current 27 inch monitor and it's been a gamechanger for my productivity. I feel like an ultrawide would definitely expand on that and I'm not a fan of multiple monitors tbh. I'm drawn towards the 34, 38, and 49 inch, which specific monitor or setup do you recommend. Thank you.

I'm an 18 year old male, and I've never taken voice lessons. I sing a lot in church choirs/quartets, and I have since I was about 10. My current singing range (with clarity and volume) is Bb1-F4. On a good day, I can go g1-g4, but that's not consistently there. I'd like to get better, but I don't have a lot of money to throw at voice lessons. Any advice on how to better grow my range (specifically the lower end, as I am used primarily as a bass) would be appreciated.

P.S. I don't know if I should have counted falsetto in my range. I can falsetto comfortably up to about c5, but I'm kinda embarrassed to utilize that so I haven't gotten anyone's opinion on whether or not my falsetto sounds good. I do struggle with transitioning to falsetto (my transition point is f4).

Howdy! I need some help with Samsung's G9 Neo confusing model numbers. There's a three hundred pound (roughly 460USD) difference between these two monitors? Anyone got a clue what the difference is?

Cheaper one:

More expensive one:

Hey there.

Just got an Samsung CGR90. I want to stack my Acer predator X34a on it. The mount should be one with table fixation. Do you have any ideas? Was looking for the Ergotron LX dual but it seems that the CGR90 is to heavy? I don't want to use 2 different mounts because I want to have my desk clean ;)
