I've recently deployed Immich on my Raspberry Pi 5 and am absolutely loving it! Now, I’d like to add an AI module, similar to what the Raspberry Pi AI Kit offers, alongside my NVMe storage. I was surprised to see there are actually options to make this possible!

One product that caught my attention is Pimoroni's NVMe Base Duo for the Raspberry Pi 5, which should support both storage and an AI module. However, I'm having trouble finding an M.2-based AI module available in the UK that would work with this setup.

If anyone has recommendations or knows where I could find just the AI module, I’d really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance!

I'm experimenting with a captive portal on my guest Wi-Fi network and I thought it might be fun to set up something like the airlines have, specifically something like Southwest where you log into their Wi-Fi and can watch movies and whatnot from your device. I did a bit of research and didn't see anything. A pre-made solution would be awesome, but I have a feeling that doesn't exist. Any suggestions would be great!

A while back someone posted a project that was a self hosted steam type thing for DRM free installers. I remember that it had a somewhat vulgar name but then changed it to something else at the communities suggestion. Does anyone remember what the application was?

Posting here to get opinions on how secure this server set up is

I have Cloud Flared tunnels set up for 3 sub domains with https

https://chat.my-domain.net (Mattermost)

https://kwix.my-domain.net (Kwix)

https://nextcloud.my-domain.net (Nextcloud)

All hosted on one machine with 64 gb ram and 12 core processor. Each service is running in docker. The corresponding port is exposed on in Ubuntu firewall and on my home router.

Other than the memory consumption of running 3 separate tunnels along with the apps, is there any other concerns with this set up?

Hi; with Black Friday coming up with some discounts (hopefully), I wanted to purchase additional HDD storage for Plex.

I presently have a Ubuntu VM on Proxmox, running Plex / Emby, on a measly 500 GB SSD.

Question is this: Do I need to pick up a 7200 rpm HDD or would 5400 suffice for this purpose.

At max; I can expect 2 simultaneous streams accessing said media.

Any help / guidance / recommendation would be appreciated.

Hi,

Ideally a system that can include a photos, make/model, note field. It does not need to face the internet(LAN is fine) and it doesn't need to have a cellphone app(but that's a bonus).

This system will be installed on r/proxmox as a CT or VM. This way if I don't understand the suggestions(docker based replies, for ex) I may receive I can backup and restore with confidence without understanding the database used.

Thanks for reading. I appreciate any replies.

A while back I tried to install Hoarder on my Mac, and ended up having trouble with it and gave up. I again want to give it a try but still have no idea what I’m doing with the installation.

At my current knowledge level, I would be fine to follow along with clear instructions for the installation, as I have a very base level knowledge of code/programming. Enough to where I’m able to use something like HomeBridge, but Hoarder/Docker is stumping me.

I just realized my NoIP host doesn't use HTTPS even though it takes in SSL Certificates? I always thought I have secure connection until today where I entered the link including https. Is there something that I'm missing which results in reverting in HTTP or was I always stuck at using HTTP on free NoIP?

I was using DuckDNS before but I just find it not as quick or as reliable as NoIP and I dont mind the 30 days refresher.

Hi there, I'm setting up a Windows gaming PC as a Sunshine host for local Moonlight clients. I'd also like to use it as a general purpose server for file storage, audiobookshelf, experimenting with other self hosted apps, occasional hobby development, and serving toy web apps. The problem is that 95% of my dev experience is on Linux/Mac and I've found PowerShell annoying to use in the past. My options as I see them are:

  1. Suck it up and learn PowerShell and lean on Docker when I need anything specific that doesn't have good Windows compatibility
  2. Set up a Linux instance in VirtualBox under bridged mode and figure out port mapping options
  3. WSL? I think this one might be a no go because I've encountered issues with shared resources between host Windows and the WSL environment
  4. Give up and use two separate machines

Option 2 is most tempting to me, are there any significant downsides?

Thank you for your help!

Hi guys, just wanted to know if there is any docker container allowing to have a webpage or nice display of the open ports for the current host (via the docker socket).

Hey all!

Trying to build out a game server and looking into options. I see a lot of suggestions for RetroArch and Romm.

My main goal is to host games and share a link and be able to play multiplayer with friends at are remote. It would be awesome if this was browser based so my friends don't have to setup anything.

It looks like both RetroArch and Romm are different front ends for emulatorJS. However, retroarch is the only one that supports netplay or remote play?

Just for an example, I would like to play Mario Cart multiplayer and do so by sharing a link in the browser, or maybe play multiplayer counter strike. I know this would probably be two separate systems.

I'm open to suggestions. Retro game hosting or modern game hosting.

Hi everyone, I am currently watching for a new update watcher for my docker containers. I was using whats-up-docker but that one wont watch my local containers for some reason and now I am just done with it and so I am in the market to replace it.

Does anyone have a good alternative for it?

Hello fellow selfhosters, please advice.

I have a small PC with Core I5-4300Y/4Gb RAM/256Gb SSD/onboard intel HD video with HDMI output/WiFi+BT/NIC 1Gbit/6 USB ports. This one is good for homeserver because it is fanless and has a low power consumption (about 50W power source only). And I can upgrade RAM/SSD if necessary.

I have a good experience with Xpenology, not really good with bare Linux CLI and more inclined to friendly user interfaces (like CasaOS) but anyway I can use some tricks with command line if needed.

For this tiny host I am looking for selfhosted OS solution.

I want to use it like a NAS (SMB + Syncthing etc) + Docker containers for some experiments + use it’s HDMI for streaming video contents right into TV including sound.

To achieve my goals I installed Proxmox, made VM for Xpenology and VM for BlissOS. Why BlissOS – it is an Android for x86 platform, and it is able to show me streaming videos which I need (apps like LazyMediaDeluxe etc). But when I made a test, I realized there’s no sound via HDMI. Also, because of this configuration, my "server" was hot as hell. So my question is – maybe you can suggest better solution which i haven't noticed? (please no Plex or *arrs) Maybe not actually OS, but a Docker container or something like that.

Thanks in advance!

I did have a Windows 10 VM connected to a VPN running on an Asustor NAS at my brothers house and using the donation version of FreeFileSync to sync my NAS over SFTP to the Asustor NAS. I have recently migrated everything to my Ubuntu Server and am now running a VPN client and FreeFileSync in a Docker stack. But there is no way to get the donation version of FreeFileSync when using it in Docker. So I need a recommendation for another file syncing software that can run in Docker and sync over SFTP.

I also need to be able to tell it to sync only certain folders in one directory. What I mean is on one side of the sync I may be syncing C:\Users\Sevyn\ and I tell it to only include \Documents and \Music in the sync not everything in C:\Users\Sevyn.

Thank you!!!

I would like to add a few internal cameras to my house to monitor the dog when we are away.

I don't need AI recognition right now, just basic functionality to view the feeds from my phone

I have a self hosted network up and going and use ZeroTier as my VPN, so I can access my local network

* Can frigate run without the need for the AI detection? My server only has integrated graphics

* Would my camera connect to home assistant and then home assistant to frigate?

* Or is there a better way than frigate?

* Any suggestions for an affordable camera which can connect to this solution?

thank you!

I will soon remove OpenMediaVault to put it directly in my Docker machine, on my network, I do no port, I have no port open in my docker, I use only internal docker networks. I hope some of you will find these services interesting. I used excalidraw for this diagram

Hi all.

I'm moving away from duckdns and got my own domain from porkbun. I'm kinda lost atm about what to do next. I know I have to create an A and CNAME record but I'm kinda new at this and I don't really know what to put in the Host and Answer field.

My setup atm is Duckdns with Nginx Proxy Manager for SSL

Admittedly, most of them are mine, but it's still a bit of a milestone.

Hey everyone,

I’ve recently launched Beyond Prompting Radio, a selfhosted music-only internet radio station that’s live at radio.beyondprompting.live. I’m using AzuraCast for the setup, and while it’s been a rewarding project so far, I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions from the community, especially around improving sound quality, stream stability, or anything else you think could help.

Right now, the station is running 24/7 with a variety of music, but I’m planning to expand it by adding local news segments and maybe some podcasts in the future. If anyone has experience with integrating news or podcast content into AzuraCast or any other tips on how to manage and optimize these kinds of updates, I’d love to hear from you.

Any feedback or recommendations would be really appreciated, and if you're curious, feel free to give the station a listen.

Thanks so much in advance!
