It’s somewhat rare that a track pops out with ground-breaking new sounds that it gives me goose pimples. This is one of those tracks. It makes use throat singing & jaw harps in a hip way that’s hard to pull off outside of niche audiences.

On the downside, I’m afraid that #Otyken will be a one-hit-wonder. I could be wrong but I just don’t see them being able to turn out a lot of new material that retains people’s interest. However, I see great potential for recycling these sounds into #EDM tracks. And yes, it has been done:

BTW, I suggest not translating the lyrics- you will be disappointed.

It's been around a while, but I'm sure it's going to be hailed as an absolute classic in the dub-techno genre, up there with milestones from Rhythm & Sound and Deepchord.

Performed live, no overdubs. I find his music fascinating. If I'm correct he's coded his own live performance system. One of those things I'd love to get a deeper look into!

I have a special place in my heart for this record label which existed in the 90s and then was briefly resurrected in the 00s.

This is an old DJ mix I did exclusively using tracks from the label, and if you're not familiar with this old ambient label, I highly recommend checking them out 😊

Every once in a while I search around for things that give me a similar feeling and vibe as In a Silent Way by Miles Davis. Found this album suggested somewhere and it's a pretty good option for that sort of hypnotic 'ambient jazz'.

In a Silent Way is pretty unique out there as far as I can tell - it's the jazz album that makes me think the most of minimal electronic music with a focus on looping sections and very gradual changes.

Anyway, hope you enjoy!

good to see bandcamp continuing with #juneteenth even after being acquired by epic games. not sure if "listening recommendations" exactly but definitely on topic for a music minded server 🥰

This album came up in conversation last night. I saw Clarice Jensen on tour after this was released and it was accompanied by a hauntingly beautiful set of visuals, but even without that, I think there are some moments of true beauty in here - although it's definitely an album that demands attentive listening, preferably with eyes closed 😊

I found this on my playlist again. Did you know this artist? I miss triplet feel in my own music… maybe I should make another swingy track 🤔
