The app seems fairly small in size compared to orbot which is really old and also invizible pro seems to do a ton of things including firewall vpn etc . So does it connect to tor network properly and pass all your traffic through it as good as orbot and completely block internet acces to not whitelisted services as good as rethink do ? Or does it cut cornors and do all the things but do all of them horribly ? Is it audited or atleast watched by enough people to be secure ? Anyway share your thoughts .

I think if the app does everything it boasts to do perfectly its one in a kind and unmatched and probably would make any android really really safe but i'm really skeptical . I have tried it out a month ago but ditched it after reading that its firewall does not work that well but idk if that is true or not anyway share your thoughts .

Sustainable open source will stay a dream

I rely on Bitwarden (slooowly migrating from... a spreadsheet...) and am thinking of keeping a master backup to be SyncThing-synchronized across all my devices, but I'm not sure of how to secure the SyncThing-synchronized files' local access if any one of my Windows or Android units got stolen and somehow cracked into or something. I'm curious about how others handle theirs. Thanks in advance for sharing!

Looking for a music player that will do a good job of loading album art. It all looks great in PlayerPro, but I tried Auxio and Aplayer but they didn't do a great job of pulling in the album art. Tracks were also incorrectly lumped together with mixed albums/artists.

Any recommendations?

For what i heard, a lot of people on the Linux community use Krita for image manipulation, even though, it's intended for digital painting, and GIMP is the one intended for image manipulation, because people don't like the GIMP's UI.

My issue is, i never understood why they don't like the GIMP's UI, since i never have issues with it,(Although it's probably because i'm used to the UI) so i need to adress this problem and ask you What does the GIMP UI has that you don't like or hate so much and why you like Krita's UI over GIMP's?

Before you event comment your answer i need to ask you to do the following:

1. Address each specific issue along with an concise and direct explanation of why you don't like it

2. Answers such as "I just don't like it", "I don't like where it's placed" or anything alike doesn't count as "Concise and Direct", we are adults, not 4 year old children.

3. If you can provide a suggestion of how GIMP's UI can be improved, it would help a lot, and maybe this issue can be solved.

4. If someone else commented something you were about to comment, upvote them, this way we can address the most common issues effectively.

5. I need you to watch the screenshots of both UI's, because something that most people don't know, it's how similar Krita and GIMP's UIs are.

My ideas on how GIMP can improve it's UI

1. Adding the option of the new UI selected by default, but with the possibility to switch to the new UI.

2. Possibly addding "work spaces" like Krita would help too, along with the possibility of exporting and importing them, this way people can have custom arrangements of the UI according to the kind of work they will do.

Can anybody recommend alternatives?

I got a dualshock 4 controller for $10 that had pretty bad joystick shaking that I just opened up and cleaned really well, which (mostly) fixed it. I tried playing some games on PC, but I want to try some stuff on my phone now, couldn't find an app that wasn't crashing or that didn't require a mac/windows pc to work, so I want to see if someone out there knows of an app like that. My phone is a OnePlus 9 running android 14.

If there is nothing good out there then it's cool, just wanted to try for fun and I know asking on forums is better than whatever some search optimized article or a 5-year-old reddit post can offer.

I need to transport multiple very large files over an unstable and untrusted network, and the file contents are outputted as a data stream. I wanted to use OpenSSL for streaming authenticated encryption, but they purposefully don't support that and are preachy about it.

Well, it turns out that XZ has checksumming built-in! It even has different algorithms (CRC32, CRC64, and SHA256). It's part of the same file, within/before the encryption, and automatically verified by the decompression tool. I'm already using XZ for compression before encryption, so this is just super convenient and useful. Also, it seems like XZ supports threaded decompression now, when it didn't before. Thanks XZ devs!

i made a versatile syncing cli program, lunas, that's capable of syncing local to local, local to remote, remote to local and remote to remote at the same time with many input directories, with their file attributes if enabled and more. It syncs both ways but it has src/dest options that can be assigned to individual input directories

it runs locally, unless remote syncing is used then it runs peer-to-peer using libssh/sftp

It can do sync removal between different input directories, meaning if u want to remove a file/directory that you don't want to sync back to other directories, you can "lunas -rm file" for local or "lunas -rrm user@ip:/path/to/dir" for remote and then use the option "-cr Y" while syncing to remove it from every other directories, or simply don't use this option and it should be ignored without removal, or "-cr S" and it should be synced back to the directory it was removed from, IF it was found in one of the other directories

it has an optional config file for defining presets for easier syncing instead of writing them each time in the cli

there are more options to it which can be found in the --help or in the man page for more details

a simple usage of lunas can be like this

lunas -p dir1 -p dir2 --dry-run

lunas -s dir1 -d dir2 -d dir3 -rd user@ip:dir4

lunas -r user@ip:dir1 -d dir2 -dr

-dr/--dry-run: outputs what would be synced without actually syncing them

-cr/--confirm-remove Y: confirms the sync removal as explained previously

I'm looking for an audio app for learning tunes by ear. Ideally would have:

1- slow playback, without adjusting pitch.
2- loop selection - to play a segment of the audio over and over
3- pitch adjustment (some old recordings are out of tune)

Anyone have one they like? For android the closest I've found is Fossify music player, which offers feature 1.

For PC, audacity has all these features, but its pretty clunky to use.

I've tried installing it about a dozen times over the past year, but it always gives an "unable to get image" error. So I'm wondering if there's an alternative that does everything paperless does...but lets me use it
