Do you have or want any recommendations?

What kind of skating do you like? Street, park, speed, dance, …? Why do you enjoy it?

Also, would you like to try some other types of skating? Why? And what’s holding you back?

I drove maybe 100km with those wheels. They are my first wheels and they came with the shoes. 84mm. I didn't do anything crazy with them. I didn't often T-break, I just drove with them. How long should they last?

Powerslide Next 100s on unrockered PS Katana frames and PS Spinner 110 wheels. They’re not in the picture but I’ve since added 2nd Skin liners. The stock liners were way too thick.

Great videos for learning quad skating, specifically park skating.

Hi!

So, I used to play hockey at school/uni, mostly on ‘banana’ rockered freestyle inlines.

Now I’m somewhat older - it’s been a while since I’ve been on blades, but I’ve regularly skated on ice, I would say I’m intermediate but more used to ice than tarmac.

My son is getting into in-line skating and I’d like to put on some wheels again so we can knock a puck about.

What would be a good (but not bank breaking) skate for me? I’d like a hockey stance but I’m thinking I might need something I can rocker (or just buy different wheel sizes I guess?).

Any suggestions hugely appreciated.

I have had my Them 909s for a few months already when I started noticing pain on the side of my ankle when skating for about half an hour.

As there are so many people recommending Intuition, praising their liners for their good fit, I got their Premium model, hoping to eradicate that pain.

When I tried them I was promptly disappointed: It hurt even more. I removed that velcro wrap which made it better, but still not better than with the old liners.

I went online and learnt that you could heat mold them, which I tried, not going overboard with the temperature, though. It made it better, I guess?

But it still hurts, so I continued my research and found several people claiming that the liners need to be broken in for about ten to twenty hours. I hope they are right, I will not give up yet.

Update (3 days later)

Two days ago I skated them for three hours straight. At first it felt quite alright, especially my right foot felt fine, but there was some discomfort on my left one.

After a while that discomfort turned into pain, and after another while I somewhat got used to it. I got the feeling that I was breaking in my feet instead of the liners.

Unfortunately, my left foot still hurts when I put pressure on that one hot spot. I won’t skate until that spot has fully recovered, otherwise I couldn’t judge if liner becomes better anyway.

The edit is almost a year old but so worth rewatching, it has some really good vibes.

I love seeing aggressive skating becoming more technical. (I’ll probably stay closer to the wizard end of the wizard-aggressive spectrum, though. 🧙‍♂️)

If the old ones (in my case these came with the skates, made out of aluminium or some other metal) seem to be working fine, is there any gain in replacing these with some "higher quality" ones?

One of my favourite wizard edits with Joey from Mushroom Blading and Leon Basin.

The edit is full of smooth, creative and silly tricks; also there is no music, just the soothing sound of big wheels in solid metal frames sliding on nice concrete.

Some crazy good skating from the 80s: incredible levels of flexibility and control!

These guys never fail to motivate and inspire me to go out and try stuff. Even though this one is pretty different from their usual videos I still felt like going out on a stroll through nature after watching this one.

I am so glad that this edit was released! It raises the bar significantly and shows that quad skaters can easily compete with inlines in terms of style and skill.
