Hello all you new Lemmings fresh off the Reddit boat. Welcome to this alternative community to /r/oldphotosinreallife!

This is an (at least so far) and unofficially migration home for the old reddit community. Old Photos In Year Life was one of my favorite things to pop up in my feed on Sync over the years.

I started this out a few weeks ago after I transitioned away and found lemmy.world. I wanted to see what starting a community was like, so here we are!

We've got 120 subscribers as I write this, and hopefully more soon. However this community will only work with content, so I'm hoping some of the folk from the old place will continue to share their fascinating photos with us.

The rules on the right are pretty standard, please report anything that doesn't fit with those. If we start picking up momentum I'll ask for some mod help, so watch this space.

Another one from the Guardian, where they look at Moscow then and now.

Since Oppenheimer is in the out in the Cinema, I thought I'd link to the then and now page in Guardian published back in 2015.

Both fascinating and tragic.

Sorry about the trees..

More info on the building is available on Vauxhall History's website, and here on Wikipedia.

Given that the original version over on reddit is still private, and the protest shows no signs of stopping, I'd like to submit /c/oldphotosinreallife to sub.rehab.

To do this, we'd need to have at least three posts that aren't by the modteam (which is currently just myself).

If any visitors or new members can help by adding their own submission that would really great!
