Listen, I love music, I really do. I love the way songs can make me feel and all that, it's an incredible feeling. I also love discovering new music, it's quite fun and the feeling you get when you come across a banger is a great feeling, it really is. Tell me this, though...

Why do I struggle to listen to albums, even if it's an album that I want to try and listen to? I only like two artists' discographies. Well, the majority of their discographies, and even then I struggle to listen to their albums in full.

When I discover a new song that I like, I'll often go skim through the rest of the album that the song is on and/or the rest of the artist's discography (by skim I mean use Spotify's reel feature) and it's useful but also annoying as I'm therefore not listening properly.

Also, when I do try and listen to an album I find it hard to tell whether I'm actually liking the song or not because quite a lot of the time I'm just sitting there not feeling much. Like, it's certainly listenable and certainly not bad because I know when I really do not like a song, but apart from that I don't know, and that's when I also get the urge to skip the song. I also get kinda bored after listening to a few songs. This makes discovering new music and being able to enjoy it a bit difficult. I don't want to be like this though as I enjoy music, it is a real interest of mine, and I want to further that interest in many different ways.

If anyone knows why I'm like this, has any advice or can relate (I hope others are in this situation so I don't feel as bad haha), please let me know :)

I often listen to music that is relatable to me and I bring much comfort in that, I was emotionally abused as a kid by my father who had severe undiagnosed narcissistic PD, does anyone know any songs that talk about that? I listen to most genres, just not pop that plays on the radio and that stuff, my spotistats is @lxn4r if you want to see what I listen to the most

I’m wondering if there’s a specific term for the inability to hear beats correctly at the beginnings of songs, and if it’s deliberately pursued by musicians when they create music. It’s like a rhythmic dislocation.

The example I always cite is the beginning of “Spirits in the Material World” by The Police. Copeland’s drum fill intro always seems to set me up to invert the beats when the rest of the band comes in, and I can’t seem to flip it back until the chorus.

To be clear, I’m not talking about, for example, a crowd clapping along on one and three when they should be clapping on two and four (in this case, they probably do know they’re clapping on one and three); rather, actually hearing one two three and four incorrectly and being unable to switch due to the strength of the musical suggestion.

In regards to The Police, I like to think they were all in the studio having a laugh knowing the beginning of Spirits would be misheard.

hey, I've been looking for a song but I can't find it anywhere. it's in the German TV show "türkisch für anfänger" ("Turkish for beginners") in season 1 episode 10 at the end. shazam doesn't recognise it and googling the lyrics doesn't work. the lyrics I can understand are: "you are the words in my mouth, no second hand religion can take them out. you are the voice in my head, singing me to sleep." and "there is nothing left, there is always us"

15 minute "slasher" video to hear a mediocre "nü metal" song. What a waste... at least try to be a new age GWAR and embrace the stupid. As it is, you just look foolish, and your music barely saves the façade.

I am thinking about starting a career in music and i don’t know if i want to do country or rap but i wanna do both and i am better fit for country. I also do like rap a lot more than country.
