I don't know why I just realised this. I love eating at restaurants with my friends but it has become so expensive. So last week i invited friends over and sent them them menu from our favourite place in advance. They ordered from the menu and that's what I cooked. It worked out great. Obviously you need to be able to cook those dishes but it's a great way to get ideas and also know your guests will like what you cook

Have you ever noticed how sometimes ice from your freezer has that weird aftertaste even though your water is clean and the filters are clean?

I noticed that the freezer blows cold air directly at the ice maker and I realized it’s probably that air that’s making the ice taste funky. I put a small bag of activated charcoal on the top shelf of the freezer and the bad taste went away.

As someone who has worked in multiple call centers, one thing you need to realize is 90% of established Charites and Product/Service Companies do not make solicitation calls in house, they delegate to call centers filled with callers that do not GAF about the charity or company & are getting base pay so here's how to make them stop.

If a Charity is calling you 99.9% chance they are asking for more money, so don't bother having a conversation, as soon as they mention the charity, simply say "I do not wish to donate more, add me to your do not call list" then hang up, nothing more nothing less.

For Marketing Calls just say "Add me to your do not call list" then hang up

Do not Ever hang up as soon as they introduces themselves

Do not say you are busy

Do not say you aren't interested

Do not say You can't afford to give/buy

Doing any of these things will result in your number being added to a list for redial/ for further solicitation campaigns

My neighbor wants to be besties, but I'm not interested in being more than neighborly. She keeps suggesting 'let's do a movie night" and asks when it works for me. I don't want to commit to anything and I can't say I'm busy forever, so how can I get out of plans that haven't had a date established? I just don't want to be involved in the plans at all.

I just can't find a way for me that works. My nails look terrible. I once was able to stop for a few weeks but than somehow started again and I lost all progress. Do you have any tips or tricks to stop this really annoying habit?

Long story short, I need to learn to be better when it comes to cooking for me and for my wife. I have my reasons, some excuses, some true reasons, why I haven't made the effort or can't make the effort to learn how to be creative. More specifically, I want to be able to on a whim look at our pantry/fridge and be able to come up with something. If it's not a recipe, my mind just goes numb and can't figure anything out. It can be simple stuff, but there's the stipulation that one of us is vegetarian and the other is not. That's hardly an excuse or anything, as I'm aware most things can be made with the meat separately. I'm tired of letting my wife down, of letting my body down by eating nothing but convenience food, and of just feeling like a 12 year old about to be 30 in the kitchen.

Please help.

I've struggled with imposters syndrome since starting my career in conservation two years ago. Since then I've had four jobs as a conservation scientist and despite fulfilling my duties I've yet to dispell this feeling of faking it.

In my last role I received only positive feedback and my monitoring efforts and the report I wrote led to the budget for the monitoring position I was in increasing by 100%.

This feeling has only intensified as I've just applied for and received an offer to interview for a highly competitive position as a research scientist in Antartica.

How can I learn to believe in my abilities and smash the forthcoming interview?

Thanks.

I literally learnt this yesterday and it’s a game changer as I work in a bar and balloons get stuck on the ceiling far more than I’d like to admit, plus it’s also really fun.

Get a spray bottle, specifically one where you can turn the spray into a single stream jet (most have a little twisty thing on the nozzle that will do this). Fill it with water and spray the balloon. The water will stick to the balloon causing it to get too heavy to float, and it will sink down to the floor. Incredible fun, incredible ease.

Original Title: LPT: If you're struggling to keep up with working out, just do your warm ups and stretches. Sometimes you will find you'll get to finishing your workout but if not, at least it will help maintain whatever gains you've already made.

This is something I have learned over my career that has led to several great opportunities and advancement in my career. First impressions are huge, and often "stick" despite further interactions. So make your first interaction with someone who is new to the company (especially if they are in a more senior position) a good one. Spend a few minutes to welcome them, show them around, give them a tip or two about office/workplace culture (do NOT gossip about other employees).

At the end of the day, anyone walking into a new job has some anxiety (no matter how confident they seem). They know they are on display and are the outsider. By immediately welcoming them, you are creating good will that can last much longer than the role you currently are in. I'm constantly surprised how such a minor thing has opened up so many longer term opportunities in my career, by people who I had limited interaction with outside that simple gesture on their first day.

When you're talking to your boss and he speaks negatively of former and current employees over and over again just remember, they are doing the same about you.

This goes for job and work related adverts, and anything claiming to be your big opportunity into an industry. Nobody would ever point this out to you unless they were trying to get your money.

Always be sceptical of online adverts, especially ones on Meta sites.

When I first adopted my GSD puppy she was 8 weeks old and had all her puppy shots. I took her anywhere I could that was dog friendly with me. We would go to outdoor malls, parks, breweries, and trails where I knew people would want to stop and pet her. Having so many different people giving her attention helped get her used to people, and she truly loved everyone she met.

I would take her with me to the dog park where she made some good friends, and I taught her how to associate with other dogs positively and not be afraid or too rough.

Also at a young age I exposed her to having her paws and snout touched for grooming. I got her used to the noise and feel of the nail grinder and would brush her teeth often so she wouldn't be afraid of it later when at the groomers. Positive reinforcement backed by treats helped this process so much. She expected a treat once her nails and teeth were done.

All of the above molded her into one great pup. She was a dog everyone wanted to be around. Just wanted to share this tip as it really is important for the development of a friendly dog.

Habits are a muscle that we train repeatedly, exactly like the muscles of the body, which we begin to train slowly so we don't tear ourselves, in the world of habits this would be when we get frustrated and give up.

Here are the steps: (it is very useful to make notes of each step, but that depends on each person)

* The first step is to define exactly what you want to change.

* Evaluate current routine and analyze things to incorporate and eliminate.

* Add small and sustainable changes over time

* Assign a time and space.

* Don't abandon anything you haven't done for at least a month.

* After the month you can adjust the habits you notice that can be done differently to enjoy them more or add new ones.

With the recent severe storms in the midwest US, there have been dozens of posts by frightened people asking where they should shelter because there is a Tornado Warning. Don't wait until there is a disaster to plan out what to do.

I work at this office where everyone seems so cool and fine, exchanging gifts from time to time, keeping it positive, happiness is in the air, no complaints, no gossips. What could go wrong, right? ...Well, that was too much for my introvert ass, and I always felt like that company lives inside a big cringe ball, but I was like come on, why don't you try and enjoy all the positivity, so I gave it a go for a while. Then it came time for a meeting and opinion exchange, everyone was like : everything is perfect in the company but we need to work on ourselves more and be more efficient... I was the only one who dug up some negative points, huge mistake, I made the sect angry xD since then I feel like I'm being pushed to quit, even by the furniture in my desk. Atmosphere changed, the family wants better members, those who don't mind a salary that didn't change after 5 years, and expect you to overwork, and work even on weekends when there's load, they want you to fully commit to them and prioritize work over your family needs. There's a big surge of self help induced toxic positivity. Complaints, constructive criticism, and feeling bad from time to time is OK and healthy, don't force positivity. How can you feel good if you don't feel bad ? And remember family and mental health come first. Financial struggle is temporary, losing your family and or mind is not.

Especially applicable if you work in a trade, skill or service based jobs. Increases productivity, gets you out of a jam when things are positioned awkwardly. And if you ever loose a limb, cuts down on relearning skills.

Now, I'm not sure what phones this works on but I know iPhones and Galaxy phones can do this.

Simply draw a janky shape around what you want to highlight but instead of letting go straight away, hold your finger on the screen for a second longer and voilà, the crude shape you made will change in to a perfect circle/square/rectangle...it even works with arrows and straight underlines etc.

If you find yourself sharing a lot of screenshots this can be very handy.

I see so many comments online that are just a wall of text I don’t want to read. Organizing it into paragraphs makes it significantly easier for the reader to digest, and can help the writer organize their thoughts.

Each paragraph should start with a topic sentence. Each sentence after that can clarify, or build on that sentence. When you move to a slightly different topic, start a new paragraph.

I am no great writer, but I TRY. I think about how people might consume it. I know I could write better, so please put your red pens down. This is just a reminder about the basics.

There might be great insights in an 800 word stream of consciousness text block, but if they haven’t taken the time to organize it I’m not going to take the time to read it.

You know those annoying automated systems; "Press 1 for this, Press 2 for this, Press 3 for this..."

They suck, especially once you start getting into submenus and just want to talk to a person. They can be tricked though.

This has worked like 90% of the time for me.

Whenever you get one of those automated systems and it starts listing choices, just quickly type in a random string of numbers. "3545325" for example. It will generally tell you it does not understand, and start going to the menu again. So do the same thing again, and then again. Normally after you do this 3 or 4 times it'll simply give up and say; "Please hold while we connect you with a representative". Thus you can get past 10 mins of menus and at least reach a person who will direct you quicker. It may not work on every system but like I said it's worked way more times than not.
