lemmy.name respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. It is our policy to respond to any infringement notices and take appropriate actions under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") and other applicable intellectual property laws.

Procedure for Reporting Copyright Infringements

If you believe that your work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please provide the following information:

  • An electronic or physical signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright interest.
  • A description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed.
  • Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and where it is located on the Site.
  • Your address, telephone number, and email address.
  • A statement by you that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement by you, made under penalty of perjury, that the above information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.

Procedure for Counter-Notification

Upon receipt of a valid copyright notice, the user who posted the targeted content will be notified.

If you believe that your material has been removed by mistake or misidentification, you have 14 days to provide the following information:

  • Your name, address, and telephone number.
  • A description of the material that was removed and the location on the Site where it would have been found prior to its removal.
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  • A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the initial notification of infringement.

Repeat Infringers Policy

In accordance with the DMCA and other applicable law, lemmy.name has adopted a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, users who are deemed to be repeat infringers. lemmy.name may also, at its discretion, limit access to the Site and/or terminate the accounts of any users who infringe any intellectual property rights of others, whether or not there is any repeat infringement.

As lemmy.name is very new, there isn't much local content yet.

Luckily, with federation, you can view and interact with content from any other instance!

  1. Visit the Lemmy Community Browser.

  2. Find an instance you are interested in and click the "copy" icon next to its name.

  3. Back on lemmy.name, click on the search icon in the top right and paste the link you copied into the search bar.

That's it! After you do this, we'll be federating with that instance and you'll see posts from it in your feed if you select the "All" filter.

Introduction

This is a place where we work to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone, irrespective of their background. This code of conduct applies to everyone participating in our Lemmy instance, including moderators and admins.

This Code of Conduct only applies to local content.

Our Expectations

All participants in our instance are expected to:

  • Respect others: Use respectful language. Treat others the way you would want to be treated.
  • Be open-minded: Embrace different perspectives and opinions. Encourage healthy, constructive discussions.
  • Respect others’ privacy: Do not disclose personal information of any other user.
  • Follow the rules of external instances you participate in.
  • Mark NSFW content appropriately and post it only in communities which explicitly allow it.

Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated, this includes but is not limited to:

  • Hate speech: Any speech promoting violence, discrimination or hate against individuals or groups, based on factors such as race, religion, gender, age, nationality, or sexual orientation is strictly prohibited.
  • Harassment: No form of harassment, bullying, or intimidation will be tolerated.
  • Spamming or advertising: Do not spam. All promotional content must be relevant and visibly disclosed.
  • Any attempt to interrupt the normal functioning of the instance.

Reporting & Enforcement

Moderators have a responsibility to make sure their communities follow this Code of Conduct.

If you witness or become a target of unacceptable behavior, report it using the "Create Report" button under every post.
