This one

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lupin_(French_TV_series)

I'm happy to act as a moderator, but I don't need to. The new season is about to start.

Is this the right instance for TV show communities? What is the process for getting the communities started?

There are so many TV shows, and I like having a different community for each one. But there are so few people still.

I love horror movies, and I sometimes make posts on the moviesandtv community, but a dedicated community to horror movies would be great

[email protected], for example. Doesn't appear in the Communities>All page. I also tried to look up the webtoon community that is hosted here in lemmy.sdf.org (Communities>All again), and it doesn't appear. Why is that the case?

I made a community on Lemmy.world called Wrong Takeaways that I'd like to move here as I'm trying to move away from such large instances.

The way I set it up is to post a movie cover or identifiable scene that correlates to the wrong takeaway. For instance, a wrong takeaway for Fight Club is that buying soap supports domestic terrorism. The Matrix: we don't have payphones anymore because the machines wanted to get rid of exits.

Would setting it up here be ok?

I don't know if I am doing this right, but my community proposal is around The Office TV show. I get a lot of entertainment and comradarey around this show.

Ping me if I need to do something different to request this Community.

Thanks!!

Picking up the discussion from here.

The proposal is thus:

  • a new community would be created [email protected] (displayed as New Releases) where new threads would be created to have a general discussion on new cinematic releases
  • the format of the initial post would be similar to https://lemmy.film/post/296531 with a dedicated mod/team of mods to keep content fresh and flowing
  • all discussion regarding new releases would then go in [email protected]. General discussion regarding said film(s) posted elsewhere other than [email protected] may possibly be flagged and deleted unless...
    • the post or comment's subject is something tangential to or very specific of the new release
    • the film is no longer considered a new release (a lasso of time TBD? Dependent on the film, I suppose)

Nothing is as of yet written in stone. Voice your opinion and ideas in the comments.

If you want a specific community like this here at lemmy.film, vote this post up.

If you don't and would like that we continue posting BarbeQ, Oppenclosenhasenpfeffer and Mission: Interminable threads in [email protected], vote this post down.

Voting closes at midnight GMT+2, Thursday, August 3 2023. A minimum of 20 upvotes is necessary to create this new community. ¿Claro?

All comments, ideas and semi-intelligent input is invited. Any volunteers for moderator positions, please make yourselves known. Kibitzers, kvetches and general nudniks, please make yourselves unknown. Thank you.

I can see from other posts that you're aware of the issue.

I realise that the proper fix is a codebase change, but that PR has been on hold for 3 weeks now.

Posts from kbin.social don't have the problem, but posts from kbin.projectsegfau.lt do. A user there - 'realcaseyrollins' - frequently posts to "Movies & TV", meaning that any feed sorted by New has his posts at the top for at least 2 hours, above any other posts, regardless of when they posted or which Community they was posted to.

He posted earlier today, and I tried to address the problem with him (in this thread and this thread) but without response. He has since posted again tonight, again from the future, automatically above a post that was actually made around the same time.

Whilst he didn't stop posting, he did at one point '@' a Project Segfault admin in response to another Lemmy user's complaint.

That admin replied, but I don't know if they'll actually do anything about it.

Anyway - I'm asking if maybe you can keep an eye on this? If no solution comes from the Project Segfault end, maybe you could provide a temporary fix (via banning or defed'ing for a little while).

I realise I can just ban the user to clear up my own feed, but I was thinking about the casual user and the general Lemmy experience.

Thanks.

I can't find any active film communities. Everyone is racing to secure a niche community but where's the people?

Would love to see discussion of classic Noir which would also be inclusive of Neo-Noir.

I'm a Steadicam operator and admin of The Steadicam Operators Group on Facebook. I would love to see our community move away from that bad bad platform to a better one. This one here would be great!

It would be cool if we had a Webtoon community in this server. In Reddit, there were 3 subreddits dedicated to webtoons that I subscribed to.

How about a Virtual Production community? I proposed it but we're just not seeing anything yet :)

I think it would be a good fit here! Both for discussion of animated films, and for people to share animation they've created and tips/how-tos.

I've posted frequently on r/cinematography and would love to see one on the fediverse! I've been on Mastodon a lot lately and would love to fully embrace the fediverse.

I hope this isn't off-topic, but I found that searching across servers isn't really as easy as on reddit, so I thought we might share some of the other communities we like and see if everyone else has similar interests. I can talk about TV all day, but I also want to see other content!

I'll start with 3 that I like:

  1. Memes at https://lemmy.film/c/[email protected] , because everyone needs something low-effort to doomscroll

  2. AI art at https://sh.itjust.works/c/imageai , because it's kinda cool

  3. Stories at https://lemmy.film/c/[email protected] , because nothing beats that feeling of "i told you so".

Hey all,

Had to do an emergency migration to a more powerful server to cope with increased traffic.

Apologize for the ~8 minutes downtime, but we're back up!

Hey all,

We just acquired feddit.film as an alternate URL, in case it serves the community to make our name platform-independent: such as if we were to switch to kbin or another federated frontend.

Nothing change will happen without the consent of the community. There are no current plans to switch from Lemmy, and as of now, feddit.film redirects to Lemmy.film.

Hey everyone!

Please feel to post any questions, suggestions, remarks, whathaveyou about the instance and what I can possibly do to improve your experience here. Also general Lemmy/Fediverse questions are absolutely welcome.
