Romain Grosjean also told NBC Sports on Friday that he is out at Andretti, but “I’m a Phoenix. I will always find a place to land.”

Grosjean’s landing spot, however, may not be in IndyCar, but in sports cars. Grosjean has a contract with Lamborghini and is helping the manufacturer develop its new hybrid prototype for the World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship series.

Not a pit strategy meme lead, straight up, full send pass into turn 1 for the lead

I wanted to get some dialog going and hear some thoughts about Nashville being next years season finale race. Personally it’s not my favorite. I’m wondering if they wanted to leverage the party atmosphere for the finale, it can’t possibly be their first choice from a competition standpoint.

Great drive from the kid. RLL wins for the first time in three seasons.

First 8.5 laps under yellow. Blomqvist’ s debut less than 60 seconds. Hunter-Reay out. Pederson out. Rossi down a lap.

Looking forward to this week’s Speed Street episode to hear more how this all went down.

I know Benjamin Pedersen is second-to-last in points of the full-time drivers as a rookie, but it seems that when the team itself has put together a good package he doesn't drastically underperform the pace in at least qualifying and doesn't seem to be as badly off the pace as Dalton Kellett was (goodbye my leftist king).

However, Santino Ferrucci has been a clear step up in consistent pace over the lead Foyt car for the last couple of seasons and is even knocking on the door to a top 15 spot.

I really doubted Larry Foyt's leadership of the team because for a long time they really got worse each year until reaching their nadir last year, but they really seem to be willing to put in the effort and a bit more money into the program to turn things around, and putting two cars in the top 12 on a road course is a huge step forward I think. What do you think, are they turning the page?

Will has rarely been known to hold his tongue when he's upset, but rarely has it gotten to saying somebody should be punched in the face, lol.

Pato starts second. Series points leader Alex Palau starts third. Newgarden fourth, Rossi fifth, and Kirkwood sixth.

Full qualifying results.

Not the first time even this season Conor Daly has dabbled in stock car racing, but it is the first time since he became a free agent whose chances at getting more than oval rides in the future seem to be dwindling in Indycar.

Niece has long been a place for misfit drivers other teams probably wouldn't take a chance on, I wonder if Conor would consider a more frequent NASCAR gig?

Pre-Race Thread

Thoughts on Sunday’s race at a track the drivers love. Thought? Predictions?

Hey there. Mrs. CrankyBear here. I was a casual race fan growing up, but living in Indiana for four years made me love the month of May. As Tom mentioned, we started watching all of the races about 20 years ago now. I loved watching Dario Franchitti and then James Hinchcliffe. Yelled the loudest for Sarah Fisher though. Right now, I’m so happy that you never know who is going to win. (Okay, maybe not Ferrucci. 😁)

We watched F1 for several years, but this year’s “All Max, all the time” killed that. So we’re watching Indy NXT instead. Honestly tried to watch NASCAR, but it’s so damn boring.

It’s exactly 4 days, 14 hours, 21 minutes and 22 seconds until the most beautiful words in the world…

DRIVERS, START YOUR ENGINES!

P.S. Bonus points to you if you read all of this and know where my post title is from. 👍🏻

Not the most knowledgable Lemmy user. Hell, certainly not the most knowledgeable IndyCar fan for that matter. This not-a-subreddit/community (Lemmy)/magazine (kbin) is getting off to a not-atypical IndyCar ragged rolling start.

I've followed it steadily since my wife and I noticed around 2003 or so that we really liked watching the 500 and that maybe we ought to watch more of the races. Went to the 500 in 2007 as well as the last time they were at Kentucky Speedway. I've got some mobility issues (and don't really enjoy crowds), so I've had to be satisfied by whatever part of the race NBC (and ABC before that) deign to show between the same five commercials they show over and over and over and over and over.

I'm not aligned with a particular driver. I'm a regular listener of "Off-Track" so I'll always pull for Rossi, and I've liked Pato since he came in. But outside of Sting Ray Robb, it's not like any of them really annoy me. My wife can't stand Ferrucci, but he just reminds me of every cocky college student I ever taught. Plus I grew up in Houston and any association with AJ Foyt is a plus. I think it's the refinery fumes from Pearland.

So anyway, that's why I'm here. What about you?
