My Denon x3700H has recently (no changes made) started to pop and either go to the Audyssey setup screen or go into protected mode, red flashing light. I’ve re cabled everything twice so it’s not a speaker wire short. I’ve also tried to setup speaker calibration again. It can happen 5 minutes after starting to play content or sometimes I can get through a whole movie fine. What are my next steps?

This is probably asked about every day so I’m sorry in advance but I really need help.

I asked Best Buy for help and they were totally useless because they kept recommending soundbars. I’m looking to upgrade my Bose Lifestyle System. My basement is prewired so the speakers can be mounted from the ceiling. I don’t think a 7.1 setup would work because the room is small. I’m looking for Dolby Atmos. The only thing I like about my current setup is that everything connects to my main Bose console, and then that connects to my tv. I’m going to get the Sony A95L when it comes out. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Is this normal?

The bass I hear sounds fuller and deeper when playing games on my PS5 vs movies (HBO/hulu/Netflix) and music (Spotify).

For example, I can feel the bass when playing Horizon Zero Dawn but I don't feel the same bass and usually have to up the dB when watching movies or even bass heavy music.

I have a 5.1 system 4x Emotiva B1+ 1x Emotiva C1+ Pb-2000 (2nd one to be delivered tomorrow) Denon S760h

Edit: added equipments

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to get an Epson tw9400 (6050ub).

What is the maximum screen base size I can have with a 2m95 distance between the projector lens and the screen ? It has a throw ratio of 1.35, so at 2m95, I should get a maximum of 218,5 cm base screen.

Is it possible to use the zoom function in order to extend the image at more than 218,5cm ? I never had a projector, and I'm confused about what is the purpose of the zoom function.

Thanks a lot for your help. I'm a beginner in this projector field so all information and advice are welcome.

So I bought a new denonx3800h a few weeks ago. Set it up last week. It wouldn’t send any signal to my svs pb4000 recently. I turn the LFE mode off on the subwoofer app and would a temporary signal and then nothing. It was working perfectly at times but today nothing. I have tried messing with the Denon settings but the same thing. Most of the trouble started when I calibrate it with the Audessey calibration.

Client wants to hang a tv over a fireplace. There’s power over the fireplace since previous owner had an art piece over it but I can’t run the hdmi due to the brickwork. TX potentially has 15 feet with line of site to the RX. Can anyone suggest a 4K wireless hdmi extender, doesn’t have to be 4:2:2, 4:2:0 will do for their type of viewing. Links to device will be appreciated

Does anybody have experience using wireless HDMI transmitters? I am setting up my projector and refuse to have visible wires connecting to the AVR. Fishing through the ceiling would be a difficult endeavor as I do not have attic access in this part of this house.

I suspect wireless HDMI would be frowned upon in this sub, but reviews seem to be positive everywhere I've looked, though falloff has been noted with 4K. Mostly an entry-level home theater I am building, so I'll say I don't necessarily require perfect quality.

Core gear is 30+ years old and needs a facelift.

Here's what's going out:

Sony GX700ES receiver - works with a dirty A/B switch, but doesn't have any contemporary jacks (no HDMI)

Sony 5CD Changer - CDP-CE245 - was a workhorse but carousel now bust beyond repair

Sony TC-W370 dual tape deck - heads have stopped turning; haven't had the chance to rip it open and clean it up

Here's what's staying:

Denon DP-25F Turntable - works great, just no USB option

Sony KDL-60R150A LED TV

Jensen speakers c.1990 - sound great and have ironclad transformers

Would love suggestions on the following:

New AV Receiver

Good multi-CD changer (I'm a purist)

Displacement for speakers - don't need surround, but center and subs considered

Family Room is 14 x 18 x 8

Budget for components: $3K

Budget for speakers: $2K

Total budget $5K ish

Willing to spend for quality as the last iteration lasted 30+ years

Hi, I'm looking to buy my first nice speakers for use with my TV.

I've currently got the Jamo S 803 in mind, which is 80W - 160W (peak) per speaker.

Now I've got a Sony STR-DA2400ES amp which has 100W output. I do plan on upgrading this eventually but budget has me constricted to this for now.

Along with that amp I have a Sony SA-WVS350 subwoofer which I can't find a lot about online but the back of it says it's 90W. I don't know if that matters for the total wattage. 🤷‍♂️

Now my question is... Are the speakers compatible with the amp? Will I need a better amp than I currently have to enjoy them without damaging any of the components?

I've been reading online and I just cannot seem to figure it out.

Thanks a lot for any help!!

Alright, so my biggest confusion around the Cinema 60 is around sound modes. I upgraded from the cheapest Atmos receiver Onkyo makes, which I'd just leave on "auto" mode for surround decoding. Worked fine, stereo stuff came out of the 2ch speakers and sub, surround came out of all 5.1 speakers.

When I set the Cinema 60 to Auto, it wants to make all sources surround sound. It's fine for tv shows, but really annoying if I'm listening to music, because now most of the content is coming through the center speaker, ruining the imaging. Setting it to "direct" mode plays everything as is, again fine for movies and shows because it uses all the speakers, but ignores the subwoofer for 2ch content. And afaik it bypasses room correction in this mode.

Tl:Dr - do I really have to constantly manage the sound mode with this expensive receiver? Or is there a setting that plays content through the appropriate channels, with a subwoofer, with room correction?

Hey guys and gals!

I finally moved away from my Logitech Z-5500 PC 5.1 surround speaker system setup (Toslink) and went to a proper AVR, mainly for codec reasons, but of course I'm enjoying the sound improvements heaps! I don't want to spend tons of money, so far I lucked out extraordinarily though, which leaves quite some budget.

I currently have the following setup:

Receiver: Denon AVR-X1600H (for free - bought on ebay, damaged during shipping, money back, was able to repair it myself)

Front L/R: Klipsch R-28F (150€/pair)

Surround L/R: Canton Fonum 200 (for free from relative)

I use the Logitech center satellite as a (terrible) center speaker for now and want to upgrade there at first! (If you guys think a 4.0 setup without the Logitech center speaker would yield a greater result for the time being let me know!) fyi they are 8 Ohm as well as all the other speakers.

The Canton Fonum 200 were leftovers from a stereo receiver setup from my grandmothers, let me know if they're a bad pick for my setup as surround speakers and should be changed to something else.

I'm now looking for a (list of) recommended (Klipsch) center speaker(s) which would work nicely with the R-28F speakers.

After the center speaker I'm looking to upgrade to a dedicated subwoofer, any recommendations more than welcome!

I'm not terribly set on Klipsch (read that many don't "love" Klipsch here), at least for the center I'd appreciate Klipsch for the homologous look...

I live in Germany and love to shop used - so preferably only recommendations which were sold in Europe/Germany, even better if they've been around for a while and on the used market.

Thank you all so much for your input! :)

Other than spending thousands of dollars on ultra high-end devices are there any cheap, simple boxes that do it all? DV, Almost TrueHD, Lossless audio, etc..?

I love the convenience and interface of the Apple TV but know it's hamstrung with some features. I think the Shield does more but hasn't been updated in ages and is possibly never getting a new model. But is there anything else out there?

Or is there some new thing on the horizon that will do it all?

Hello, I'm finally looking to utilize the Zone 2 feature on my Denon x3700 but I'm not sure if I have to use a paired set of speakers. I see the Height 2 L and R can be used for Zone 2 but I'm planning to just run it to a single outdoor OSD Rock speaker...do I have to use a paired set or can I have both L and R channels run through one speaker? What does that set up look like? THANK YOU!

Atmos placing

I'm looking for advice as to where I should/can place my Atmos speakers in my new theater. I have 4 SVS elevation speakers from my old theater and want to add them but I'm unsure if my room is suitable for a 5.2.4 setup or if I should just stick to .2.

I would like to add the ceiling speakers but maybe my room would be better with the 4 up firing instead?

Any idea what the best solution would be?

I just saw this locally for $149, is this a good deal to grab up? Keep in mind I do not have anything yet for my homelab, but I would imagine this would be a great foundation to start filling up.

Okay so im a noob with this stuff... I was wondering on my receiver do I have to plug in another source for it to work? Like do I have to plug in a chromecast.. nvidia shield..labtop...xbox... or can i simply plug in 1 hdmi cable from tv to receiver and then be able to watch my netflix and everything? Ive been trying to do just that and am getting no picture on the screen.

Hi, I'm looking to get the below mentioned set for a entry level 3.1 setup, but I don't know if it will work good together. As I live in Poland (Europe) it really limits the available options on the market. Most of the speakers from the recommended list are not available, and if yes, they charge you 50% more for international shipping. I still want my wife to love me, so I cannot spend much more. Also my wife hates the look of floor speakers which limits the options even more. I thought about an all in box (e.g. Yamaha 5.1 YTH4960) but I'm not convinced It seems like it's not something I could build up in the future. I also know that the emotiva speakers are not great either, but they are quite good in their price range and I hope they are better then the above box sound system.

The setup:

AVR: Denon AVR-S760H 7.2

Bookshelf: Emotiva Airmotiv B1+

Mid: Emotiva Airmotiv C1

Sub: Emotive Airmotiv SE8

Looking forwards for your inputs! Thanks

Hey, I have had a hisense Laser tv (100L8D) for almost 4 years, and while the picture looks great, I feel like it could probably be even better. I have not been able to find any online calibration guides for this unit so I’m hoping there might be a few people on here who can give there recommendations from their experiences.

I know these will vary base on room lighting, type of use (movies, gaming, etc), it I’m willing to try a few different things to see what works best for me.

Thanks in advance
