Hello everyone and welcome to the r/DeusEx community thread!

The last few weeks and months have been bizarre and left all of us heartbroken, so i guess you can use this as your typical place to chill whenever you like, post feedback, ask questions that you don't think warrant a new thread, or just get that burning DX1 meme out of your system. It is okay to go off-topic, however other rules still apply - please be nice to the other users and use a spoiler tag if needed.

While there has been no official news surrounding Deus Ex after Embraer acquired it 2 years ago, the last 2 and half months have been full of rumors from credible sources surrounding the IP, from the cancelation of a new game in development at Eidos, to Elias Toufexis eye tearing message, to a rumored remake of the original game, now that the news have had time to settle in, how are you coping with the aftermath of what happened recently?

Personally I have had very little enjoyment in gaming as of late, as it feels like the lead up to a new Deus Ex was the only thing that kept me engaged in playing games and made me had hope building my PC to be prepared for the new game's eventual release, but ngl ever since I heared the news I have been feeling a little lost, I was really looking forward to seeing a continuation of Adam Jensen storyline.

In addition to that, If you're having trouble running DX1 on your PC, it is recommended to download Kentie's Launcher. You can also check out this spiffy Guide if you're new to DX1, it will help you to set the game up and get you going (thanks u/WhyAreYouGae3 for the link).

Recently found myself interested in these games but I’ve never played them and I don’t even really know what they’re about. Mankind Divided is on sale for really cheap on the Xbox and it’s the deluxe edition which includes the season pass. Would I be missing out on a lot or is this game a good starting point? Or is it better to play Human Revolution first? It is backwards compatible on Xbox but not on sale. I wouldn’t mind playing that one first if it still holds up though. Thanks for any help and tips in advance.

What is some interesting literature Deus Ex is based on, or literature that echoes Deus Ex? The more philosophical aspects of it, I suppose, although not necessarily. I find it fascinating reading the in-game texts in the original and HR.

this is my first deus ex and wow just wow im legit shocked everything aged like honey the story the gameplay the UI the game design that soundtrack you will never believe that this game came out in 2000 never.

its one of the most ambitious title i have ever played its overly ambitious and generous but it succeded at pretty much everything it tried.

its just one of the greatest game ever made if i put it in its timeframe with the restriction that follow this might be the best game ever made i just cant think of a game that did it like that its just a marvel.

What a level. Replaying in NG+ as hadn’t played the main game since I completed it on release and had almost completely forgotten this part of the game. Possibly as I was working my way through it for the story I didn’t explore it to the same degree.

The verticality of this level is incredible. Spent the last few hours sneaking around trying to find high ground and take all the ARC out one by one. Incredibly satisfying. As good as Prague is as an hub world, I much prefer these enclosed areas like the Palisade Bank. They’re done so well.

I just wanted to ask because I’ve seen many sides to this where people say that no, he isn’t a clone it’s just the Illuminati picked him up after he fell into the water but like, what would they want with him besides to clone him? I know he has the special gene where he can take all augs but still, did they remove that from him for research?

The Versalife vault shows a badly damaged Adam Jensen with his augments removed surgically, and we have the original augments on our Adam, so I just don’t understand why the clone theory is so hotly debated. I might be missing something but wouldn’t it make the most sense that they cloned Adam Jensen?

Wasnt JC cloned like 3 years after HR takes place? It’s not that much of a stretch but then again, this would only work if they had cloned him as a child.

All I’m asking is, if Adam isn’t a clone, what is the versalife vault meant to signify, and why would the Illuminati take Adam to a black site and cover it up. I also don’t understand how Orlov plays into this, did he fuck with our augments?

I’m playing Mankind Divided again and this time I’m challenging myself to almost only use melee, and it’s so fuckin fun to watch Jensen run around a room full of armed thugs just punching them out non-lethally.
