I’m 26M. For the last year I think my mental health has been in decline. I can usually tell because I’m a weirdly counter intuitive way, I become super focused on self care.

I’ve been reading Marcus Aurelius. Meditating. Working out 5x a week. Eating a super clean diet. Not drinking. Focusing on my job. Listening to podcasts on self development.

I’ve come on holiday with my mates today and I’ve realised, I have no self confidence at all. Especially with women. There’s a lot of pressure on me to pull as I’m one of the only single ones and I can’t. I just can’t do it in clubs and bars. I’m too awkward with strangers. I feel super self conscious at the moment and feel like I’m ugly. I worry I’m boring. So I just kinda turn around and go somewhere else whenever my mates try to pull me into a conversation with a girl. They’ve pointed out this too

It’s really getting me down. I’m incredibly lonely. I don’t feel like I’m ever going to find a partner. I don’t have any confidence in the way I look.

I really don’t know what to do. This whole holiday is already getting to me and I’ve only been here a day.

Does anyone have any advice on this? Because I’m not sure how I can survive being told I’m boring and they ‘don’t believe I’ve had sex before coz I can’t talk to women’

Please can I have some help. Sorry if this seems really self pitying but I don’t know how else to deal with this anymroe

I told my partner to use a cold plate on themselves and they had never heard of doing it before.

At home we would use cold plates and china crockery to cool yourselves when feeling unwell but also just to cool your forehead or whenever .

Is this not normal ?

Edit : I pity you all , I hope you all burn in this heat

I'll go first: Oban. Tried three different chippies over the course of several years; all overpriced, stodgy, tasteless, mushy - practically inedible.

I mean, it's Oban! Fresh catch every day, plus the seafood shack that's the world's darling, literally.

Fish and chips though? Nah.

I (27F) live in a pretty rough area of the South West. My partner (M26) and I have only owned our house for about 2 years and have had to call the police about 6 times due to drunks, burglars, and other mayhem happening either in our home or a house very close to ours.

We regularly find people nicking stuff out the front, messing about in our front garden etc. It's like we are a magnet for crazies!

My partner is going to the US for 3 months in November, and the thought of being alone in the house is a bit ominous.

What steps can I take to feel more secure in our home and dissuade people from trying anything funny? We have a "Warning: Dog" sticker in the front window and a lock on the back gate. Any other ideas appreciated!

Morning gang!

This is the place to discuss all your weird and wonderful hobbies, and find likeminded individuals into your weird shit. Use this as an opportunity to talk about the stuff you're into (SFW, please). Here's a few things to get you started:

What have you done in the last month or so?

Got any big things on the horizon in your hobby?

Does your hobby have a subreddit you can share?

What's the best thing about your hobby?

Anyone else insanely proud that we ranked the lowest out of a LOT of countries when asked whether work is rather/very important in their lives? It's still a healthy 73% but that's the lowest percentage in this study. Work is important to me but family, health, environment, culture and other things are too and I think that makes the UK a better place.

Hello!

Long story short - I'm in my 30s now! And apparently that means you can just get pulled a little awkwardly by your dog and be rendered completely unable to move? Which is a fun surprise!

I've laid down on the bed to rest and I'm not messing, I can't get up. Bending my back at all is agony and if I try to slide off, as soon as my legs move to the floor my back says NO!

To those older and wiser than me, what are my options here?! Are there.....back pain hospitals?! Ambulances for idiots who don't stretch enough? Physio? Do I just live here now? Do I wait for my partner and hope she can push me onto the floor, and then, I dunno, drag myself along on my stomach for the rest of time?

Any tips much appreciated (it's right at the bottom of my back and the top of me glutes!)
