It's only April 10 and already 18 Australian women have been killed by their partners in 2024. What the actual fuck is going on everyone?

So per my username, I order a bunch of car parts pretty regularly.

Generally, they are required to have signature on delivery, generally as a value thing.

I know Australia post, once the parcel is over a certain value with insurance, they need a signature on delivery (so this costs more too)

But....I haven't been asked to sign a parcel in years, Australia Post, Aramex, Couriers Please, DHL, etc always simply deliver the parcel and sign for it on my behalf.

I've never had to dispute one, because I have a good safe place to drop it, but still.

If you don't sign for it, it defeats the purpose....doesn't it?

Maybe it's because I grew up in (and still live near) a 'low socio economic area' - but I've never had to pay to see a GP because of bulk billing.

I assumed this was the norm in Aus until I saw all these posts on Reddit.

Have you always paid to see a GP? Or is this a recent thing for you?

Original Title: Asio says violent rightwing extremists are still being inspired by the Christchurch mosque shooting massacre carried out by an Australian man in 2019, warning of a recent uptick in activity from hate groups “who want to trigger a so called ‘race war’”.

Struth! Everything's going up like house prices ...

Take me back to the days of 12c pies and 5c hot chips.

I’m looking at buying a small, ex-housing commission house in a rough, but up-and-coming suburb, surrounded by quintessential middle-class suburbs. In these middle-class suburbs are all these gigantic double/triple garage 4-5 bedroom places (built 90’s/00’s) that must be going for the best part of a million, or over. Who is buying these places, or are the boomers that own them just sitting on them and staying in them when the kids move out? And who has the time to maintain such a massive place and perfect gardens? I feel I’m pretty well-off, but couldn’t even imagine having such a huge mortgage. Are these suburbs just full of tradies? So many questions.
