Hey All,
I've been building my own cables for a while using insulated, multi strand, oxygen free copper, cable + gold plated locking banana plugs, a soldering iron, and heat sleeves. This is all awesome and the results have been stellar. I've been using this cable from monolith over the last couple of years "Monolith Speaker Wire - 50 Feet - Silver - 12AWG with Braided Nylon Sleeve, Oxygen Free Copper, Multi-Strand Conductors, PE Insulated"
Unfortunately it looks like it doesn't exist for sale anymore - I've been scouring for a decent replacement and everything I'm seeing of similar quality is like 30 bucks a foot which is many times more expensive.
Does anyone have any advice on where to find great cable for similarly cheap that I can use to keep doing this? I guess I could also start building it from the smaller strands too but this was so low effort for such good results :)
Edit: Boy either I'm terrible at writing at 7am or this is a community that struggles with reading comprehension.
To restate, I'm saying that 30 dollars a foot sucks and I'm not going to pay that. I was getting something I liked for 2 bucks a foot prior. Curious if you know where to find something similar to what I'm looking for at a more reasonable price point now that the product I was using is no longer available.
To be clear:
I was building my speaker cables using the monolith product and some generic gold plated terminals for like 2 dollars a foot plus 2 buck terminals and some heat shrink/solder material on the order of pennies. I'm just looking to keep doing that as I've been happy with the performance, appearance, and durability of what I ended up with.
I know that expensive voodoo is dumb, that's why I was building cables myself for a couple bucks per foot
I know that I can go and buy something else that isn't what I'm looking for - thank you for letting me know.
What I don't know, is where else to find what I was looking for - at a similar price point to what I had been spending.
Thank you all.
