Ok, so hear me out....

For years I have cringed my way through this holiday classic. I cannot for the life of me understand how/why Jack Black was cast for this character. He is a notorious over-actor, he is absolutely not going to pull both a hot young actress and the smoke show that is Kate Winslet, and the more appropriate casting WAS ALREADY IN THE FILM with John Krasinski playing Ben (the Jr Editor.)

The only reason I can think JB was put into this role is his musical acumen, but even then the big music scene where he and Kate are listing to Arthur's theme music he's goofing off. Completely manageable by another moderately capable actor.

Am I wrong here???
