My network is 2.5gbe, so looking for a device that will support that. I would like to have zfs with parity for one drive failure, or raid 5. In terms of usage and diskspace I am looking to get between 3-4tb total - so not a ton. It would be used primarily for documents and photos.

option 1 i am looking at is a pocketnas - 4xnvme setup cost 150-200 + drives

option 2 asustor 4bay cost 250-400 + drives

Asustor seems like easier setup, but if i wanted to do zfs i would be looking at installing an alternative os and then it may be harder than doing so on barebone system.

pocketnas i would need a small boot disk to fit in it, and would be more self managed, but should meet my needs.

anyone with experience with these two units
