So, in early 2020, when COVID sent the world into a downward spiral, I lost the job I had for more than a decade.
I wound up taking a job with a cannabis start up because I wanted in on the ground floor, I liked what I had seen of the company so far, and it was, in theory, better than being unemployed.
Sadly, the partner who was also the president was a malignant narcissist, with no idea of professional boundaries and a penchant for showing favoritism towards the 20-something women in the office (he was about to turn 50) by taking them out for drinks and dinner at least once a week, inviting them to his house, and I didn’t stick around long enough to learn more. I was gone in less than two months.
Since then, they have continued to hand out my personal cell phone number as their vendor contact for payment authorizations and order confirmations. I was polite the first few times a vendor called me, these things happen. But we are now more than four years out from when I left. I keep getting calls from their new vendors asking me to confirm orders and authorize payments.
I called the cannabis place and told them they need to fix it. Their accounting manager had the audacity to tell me I should make a list of the vendors, call them to provide the correct number, and then email the list to her when I was done.
My gast was flabbered. I then recovered, laughed, and told her I would just cancel any orders referred to me for confirmation and authorization, so they should fix the problem.
So, I am still getting calls. And I have now cancelled three orders for their supplies. I am wondering how much longer this game will continue before they get the point. I mean, after 4 1/2 years, why are you giving my cell number to your vendors?
