  • install Linux
  • install Gnome
  • install some software
  • reboot
  • these icons are in my menu
  • clicking on them does nothing

I know there's probably an explanation for it, which may make sense if you're used to the Linux ecosystem.
But to anyone else, it's just weird that there are buttons in my user-friendly GUI button-clicky desktop environment that make no sense, that I didn't install, and that do nothing when I click on them.

(Yes, I know I can hide them by editing a text file.
Or installing a menu editor that was designed for a version of Gnome from 20 years ago and still works most of the time)

When Windows messes up, at least it messes up properly.
Like deleting the main system folder,
boot-looping your most important server after an automatic update,
or automatically upgrading to a new release, then refusing to work cause you don't have a license for it.
(these are just the one's I was personally affcted by)

Linux on the other hand, messes up in tiny and slightly annoying ways that just make you question your sanity, instead of wanting to firebomb a US corporation (in Minecraft).

Here's some ancient wisdom

Linux can and has destroyed hardware

-It also almost had me toss a perfectly good 4TB external drive, and a Bluetooth. (Luckily I checked them on Windows).

Wait until you need to select an audio device in audacity. Which of the following 32 non-functional devices would you like to record from?
