Mullvad blocks communication to my scanner--despite having Local Network Sharing enabled. Is there something I can edit to allow it? (zerobytes.monster)

I just spent a total of 10 hours over two days trying to get my iMac and Canon all-in-one to talk to each other. Everything worked but the scanner.

Turns out the scanner can't be 'seen' while I'm connected to a VPN--despite having local network sharing turned on. (I'm running v2024.7 of the Mullvad app.) When I disconnect, all is well.

Other than disconnecting when I need to scan something ( 🤦‍♂️ ) is there a way to tell Mullvad the scanner is cool?
