I wonder if they had a meeting to solve that one or if they just went to the in-house philosopher.

"How about this one? They are selling an original 1980 Hobie 16 sail boat but every part on it has been replaced."

this is practical philosophy.

Wonder what happened that they had to have a rule against selling human body parts

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

People probably tried to sell body parts.

No need to thank me.

It's likely the most boring reason. They sat in a meeting thinking about preventing certain things from being sold

Right, who doesn't want to be an organ donor black market?

Schrödinger’s soul. It both does and does not exist until the sale goes through.

What if the soul isn't human?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Only humans can sell on ebay, so it's also against the TOS.

I'm going to post your cat's soul on eBay and there's nothing you can do to stop me!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

You can only sell stuff you own on ebay, so it's against the TOS!

That brings up another question then, who has the right to sell what souls? Are you able to arbitrarily sell other people's souls or do you need to have some ownership over it?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

If souls were real, there really should be an absolute ban on the commodification of them in any respect. Many mythologies tell us that owning someone else's soul allows you to enslave them and we don't want the human rights violations and invective that come along with that.

So TL;DR no one should have the right to sell any soul or engage in any kind of transaction involving any soul.

That's specist!
