403 forbidden when DMing (fedia.io)

I tried to DM a Lemmy user. This URL was associated to the mail icon:

https://fedia.io/u/@[email protected]/message

That gives a 403 forbidden. I use Tor but neither fedia nor discuss.tchncs.de are tor-hostile. So I doubt Tor is related.

I have to say apart from the above issue, fedia has been working smoothly lately. I’m glad the internal server errors that plagued the system have apparently been resolved AFAICT.

Hi. Yes, nearly all the previous issues have been fixed. There are still occasional issues with federation breaking, but I’m working on that.

I will try to reproduce the DM issue between this instance and a lemmy instance. It would not surprising me if that doesn’t work, though.

Hello. I applied the most recent mbin upgrades, which I believe may fix this. can you try again?

The 403 was the planned response when you tried to DM any remote user, because federation of message was just not implemented. With v1.7.0 we implemented it and you will not get a 403 anymore
