In spirit of the old 2007scape question threads on reddit, I thought to start making threads in the same fashion, MK II.

Post your questions, thoughts on Sailing, goals, achievements and so on!

I'll start, I'm currently taking a break as I had a drunken fall last week and am in hospital for a while with a fractured shinbone; fractured wrist; pulled tendons in my other knee and a smashed laptop; so no walking or RS for a while!

Eagerly awaiting to get back to ToB and finishing off the maxing grind (Only 94 slayer left!). I'm also contemplating getting a steam deck for RuneLite -- does anyone use it? How does it compare to mobile?

Also personally hyped for Varlamore!!

Cheers :-)

Excited for the future updates! Also y’all should give the mobile client a try if you haven’t already. I use it specifically for doing resource gathering and it’s quiet easy.

What specifically are you excited for?

Mobile is pretty nice for lazy skilling, I agree.

Very much all of it. Sailing, new continent. It’s all great and I hope the loud purists shut up

Fair play :-)

Well, I went from 2080 total last thread to 2090 now, which isn't a great pace if I'm trying to max. Have done more miscellaneous clog stuff and a clan bingo lately, so not skilling as much. But hey at least I never have to get another Merfolk Trident now. Still working towards finishing up elite diaries and I think elite combat achievements are making their way onto my radar of something I want to accomplish. So gonna have to start being decent at the game, at some point here.

As someone who is nearly maxed, pacing really helps.

I think I went from around 2k total to near 2.2k (my max since I'm a pure) in about 2-3 years on and off. I've mixed a lot of raids/bossing/pking in with it...

Sometimes I'll have a big xp session or other times I'll take a break and chuck all my pvm/pk stuff onto my alt.

Combat Achievements seem a good way to make some money and get some nice perks (2min thralls I'm looking at you!). I can definitely do elites, probably masters but as far as I'm aware you have to be a zerk at least to get the zuk helm :-)

I'm a regular ironman that just got 1500TL the other day... and I feel so frustrated with the wiki. Looking up strategies that they describe as "low level/beginner" for things like Dag Prime, and the gear it recommends is full specific Barrows and other things that would themselves need gear setups to get.

I think I might just go and get my ass kicked a bunch and try to keep from that feeling of "man I really should be using this gear..."

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, the wiki is really for mains that can just buy whatever gear they need. As a ironman, you really just have to use the best gear you've got and go with that. In the beginning of everything you're gonna get really short trips, but that is the ironman life. Just know that whatever "minimum gear" they got recommended, you can properly do it with worse gear.

For specifics like dag prime, you should just safe spot it with a ibans staff. It's easy enough, the worst part is getting to the safe spot. You can pm me if you want any help

I'll just need to get less scared of dying-- it's never actually happened on my current account, but I'm not hcim so it doesn't really matter. Thank you for the offer of help!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Haha I can understand not wanting to die. But you can always just buy back your items from death. Its really cheap, so I always do it

Wouldn't worry too much about that, in general stats and weapons are way more important than gear. You could probably manage DKS with ancients, a magic shortbow and a dragon scim. Blood spells are super handy too!

Just out of curiosity, do you mean Dagannoth Rex? The Zerker ring is a really solid upgrade, the other two are tiny DPS upgrades -- being in the endgame the only place I use Seers ring is for Theatre of Blood if I'm freezing (pure btw), I haven't used the Archer ring in yonks, lightbearer or suffering are usually way better for ranging.

I was setting my sights on Prime because of the dragon axe (unless I goofed and it's one of the others). Priority #1 is probably just unlocking ancients and grinding fletching to get magic short, haha 🙃

I’m a UIM and wanted to go to volcanic mine, so I gathered enough Numulite for permanent entry (3k). Unfortunately, I failed to check my kudos and I’m like 20 kudos short of being able to enter.

So I either need to grind out a bunch of quests or give up on this Numulite for now. So while I debate, I’m trying to grind out Camdozaal collection log, mainly for 5 more kudos from the relics. I just wanted to free up one extra inventory space but this is turning into a One Small Favour type plan.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That's the secret of OSRS. It's all just One Small Favour.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

That's the charm! Make one big goal, and it shatters into a hundred small, achievable ones.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

UIM seems like One Long Favour!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It'd be pretty slow, but couldn't you either do ammonite crabs or sulliceps to get fossils and finish off those last kudos?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I got all of my numulite so far from ammonite crabs. I’ve gotten a fair few fossils but I was hoping to avoid going back. Probably would’ve been easier though lmao. Haven’t tried sulliceps though so I’ll look into it. Thanks for the tip

Excited for hunters guild and varlamore on the poll

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

What would you except out of a hunters guild? If it's just 2-3 creatures you can hunt inside the guild. I think it's going to be pretty boring.

I hope they'll maybe make some hunter contracts (alike construction contracts) where you have to go out and hunt a specific animals. Maybe some new methods, so it's not just "catch 100 chins"

I'm a GIM, currently 2044 total, slowing working towards elite diarys because I have raided so much the last 4 months and had a small burnout from raiding for going so damn dry.

Not really sure on sailing, looks kinda meh but hopes it will be good now that it has gone through (Was hoping for shamanism)

But I'm also super excited for Varlamore, And Iam glad they're releasing it in chunks so we can get an overall feeling for each of the different lands. And the oldschool team can get proper feedback to make each land mass as good as possible

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I feel you, having done 4k+ raids I get burnout spells sometimes too. Mainly cox/tob, done about 150 toa experts but I've also had multiple 100+ dry spells; I couldn't imagine it on an iron!

I'm sure there's so much hype and scrutiny that Sailing will live up to expectations; Shamanism would be cool too though. I haven't looked at it too much to be honest but I'm sure there will be Fally riots if necessary.

For Varlamore, yeah it does seem a good way of doing it, the map looks awesome, personally I'm most hyped for the main city (Civia Ilia Fortis), but I'm sure we will see some cool content getting released. Time will tell!
