It's a weird American standard where all ex presidents are referred to as president. So the headline isn't wrong.
From my understanding, the title of president is permanent. The powers are (supposed to be) temporary
If he's uninjured then I have to assume this was staged.
Trump may have a slight injury to his ear.

Well that clears it up for me! There's just no way Trump would risk himself like that. This was real.
