The article says they are trying to save money, but wouldn't exhibiting at Gamescom also work great as an advertisement?

Or are they afraid of some protests due to some things they did recently? Not that I would know what that would be, but just wondering.

Why spent huge amounts of time and money with a physical presentation in a far away land at GamesCom when a online show (and maybe some demos) works fine too?

Yeah, something smells off. My guess is they just don't have enough exciting things to showcase.

No one is telling them to spend millions on a presentation. They could literally hire a presenter and hit play on their trailer playlist.

Playstation is now run mainly by Japanese people again. Japanese people have no idea Germany still exists after world war 2 and have even less of a clue about the EU.

That Xbox is attending, makes this choice more interesting.
