How goes the Streamline? Still less mild than Eld's?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago

Yes I think so, but it's been a few months since I used his.

Also, I might have used his with a PTFE blade on its 4th or 5th use, which is a sweet spot for me, so that could have played a role.

I also switch to his from some other GEM so the relative aggression could have been a factor.

Either way, we'll get to the bottom of it! I'm going to send mine to Eld once the honeymoon phase is over.

Killing Varen: Operation Inferno

  • Brush: Stirling Soap Co. Zenith Boar Brush 31mm × 50mm
  • Razor: Weck Hair Shaper (green translucent scales)
  • Blade: Kismet Rostfrei, Polymer beschichtet
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. Varen
  • Aftershave: Stirling Soap Co. Varen
  • Fragrance: Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Celestia

Small modification in the Operation Inferno setup per the wife's request: Weinstrasse got the axe and Aqua Celestia is auditioning for its spot. My goal is now to kill the tub by Wednesday. Let's see whether that's hubris in my part, but I'm feeling confident.

Now off for a trip to Geneva to catch the last weekend of the spring fair.

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Wonderful shave. I'll be taking on the mammoth task of using my Mammoth soaps over the next few days. Something to really sink my tusks into.

Enjoy your weekend!

taking on the mammoth task of using my Mammoth soaps

Engaging in a killing spree?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

No, I don't have any Mammoth soaps I could kill in a reasonable amount of time. My candidates for the year are Black Watch, SV 70th, and Midnight Stag. Maybe I'll try to knock out 70th Anniversary in May. I mean that soap's so last year :)

Lol, yeah, that thing needs to go!

I had cleaned my brushes today with vinegar, and I must not have rinsed off well enough - in any case, the lather was clearly worse than yesterday.

I also honed the Koraat today. I was nervous with the smiling razor, but it went well enough.

Have a good night!
