From what I've seen from Euphoria, the cinematography is really good, but between the gratuitous nudity, and S02 sucking, I don't want to watch it. Are there any shows that were shot in a similar way?

I liked season 2. If anything, they lean more into the cinematography.

Perhaps, but I'm avoiding it due to its fair amount of nudity as well

Euphoria’s cinematography is heavily influenced by Hungarian and Eastern European cinema of the 80s, 90s and 2000s. The cinematographer, Marcell Rev is of Hungarian origin and learned filmmaking in Budapest.

If you’re interested in this style, you can check out some of the Hungarian films of that era. Taxidermia, or the works of Miklos Jancso come to mind.

That's awesome, I didn't know that, and am surprised that nobody has mentioned Marcell Rev yet, I'll look into his work and some Hungarian films as well!

You haven’t even seen the show. How do you know season 2 is bad? It has a higher aggregate review than season 1.

I'll take a look at those! Fargo has been on my radar for awhile, but I haven't taken a look at True Detective in awhile.

I agree with others than you could just... watch the rest of Euphoria. The others that come to mind are similarly dark and adult, and they're all on HBO. I May Destroy You, some episodes of Succession. High Maintenance doesn't look like Euphoria, but it has some very creative warm/glowing/tactile photography.

I frankly would if it didn't have nudity. Succession is spectacular but it doesn't have the same type of sweeping shots or neon, high-contrast lighting of Euphoria.

The neon aesthetic seems like a newer trend (a trend that I love) and I see it most on these HBO shows that tend to have nudity. It's not new and it's not neon, but Breaking Bad has some incredibly creative cinematography, especially in the later seasons.

Weird that the neon and the nudity tend to go together.

Do most HBO shows have nudity? I know that Game Of Thrones has its reputation but I didn't hear about The Last Of Us having any nudity, Succession had basically no nudity and I really enjoyed the HBO Film Bad Education, which also had no nudity.

I've generally thought that HBO's penchant for nudity is a bit overblown, but I could be wrong.
