  • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (German) (5)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Christmas Eve - Soap

I've been using more than 2 post shaves with relative frequency, so I decided to add another row to the spreadsheet which creates the formatting for me.

I bowl lathered today, using a heavyweight Captain's Choice copper bowl that was given to me as a gift a while back. I was a bowl latherer up until a year or two ago when I switched to face lathering. Bowl lathering is still kinda fun from time to time.

I've been primarily a face latherer, but in fall of 2021, I decided I would just bowl lather until I felt really comfortable with it. Now, I mostly bowl lather samples, but it is a nice change of pace and I'm very happy I put in the time to gain some confidence with it.

This was a sample :-)

I bought this puck of Vespers on sale at the end of last season as a replacement for the one I killed and just found it. Absolutely one of my favorite scents.

Absolutely one of my favorite scents.

Agree completely!

Coffee & Vetiver

Sidama is a scent that I think can be worn all year even though it's marketed as being for colder weather. There is a certain symmetry between the darker and brighter notes that balance the scent nicely. This paired really well with TdH-IV.

  • Brush: Brad Sears Scotsman XL 28mm Super Badger

  • Razor: J.A. Henckels Friodur 14 Full Hollow Square Point

  • Lather: Zingari Man - The Master - Soap

  • Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Master - Aftershave

  • Post Shave: Thayers - Lavender - Toner

  • Talc: Pinaud Clubman

Thoroughly enjoyable shave. Being someone who just used bar soap and a cartridge razor for more than a year, I'm amazed to say that, now, I've decided I'm a talc person. I'm enjoying it enough that, in addition to the smallest size Pinaud Clubman talc, I've ordered the smallest size Yardley talc in two different scents. I'm pretty sure I've got a screw loose.

Does Noble Otter still sell powder?

Edit: It looks like they've been discontinued. Bummer!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'm guessing they rebranded from someone but don't know. The companies that make this stuff seem to have sold it forever.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

They were scented with NO scents.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Oh, that makes sense. I suspect there's little demand for talc by wetshavers.

I know of at least one person!

  • Brush: Yaqi 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Karve Overlander
  • Blade: UK Tech Statum
  • Lather: Noble Otter - Neon Sun - Soap
  • Post Shave: Noble Otter - Neon Sun - Aftershave

Great shave. I like this scent for something different every now and then. This aftershave seems to stay pretty potent throughout the day.

Wonderful shave with the little Heljestrand and the One True Stank®.

We have a company Christmas Raclette today after work, so it's going to be a great day. 🧀

Christmas Raclette

After reading about what a raclette is, I want it.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

I also looked up raclette in Wikipedia and found this: "Traditionally, cow herders carried cheese with them when they were moving cows to or from pastures up in the mountains. In the evening, the cheese would be placed next to a campfire for softening, then scraped onto bread."

In 'Merica we call this a white pizza :)

Bisonic Lavender Overload

  • Brush: Chisel and Hound Intrepid with 26 mm Zenith boar knot at 53 mm loft
  • Razor: C. V. Heljestrand MK Nº 10 (6/8", square point, half hollow, carbon steel)
  • Lather: Chatillon Lux/Declaration Grooming Pure Lavender
  • Aftershave: Chatillon Lux Pure Lavender
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! 3 Scots

I don't mind dickholing or trickholing scents in general, and I so quite often. But I realised today that I'm not a big fan of Pure Lavender in isolation. Usually, I combine Pure Lavender splash with Lavanille soap (or vice-versa) or with a completely different scent and I love it, but pure Pure Lavender is a bit sharp for me. Noted.

I shaved after coming home from a company Christmas Raclette night, so a sharp, strong lavender scent plus spicy 3 Scots was probably exactly the right thing before sneaking into the bedroom to my wife who hates the shell of cheese.

A very pleasant Zingari Zischtig! Closing it up with The Traditionalist; a very interesting take on a sandalwood scent. Tomorrow we achieve Nirvana.
