if you need to cut, then it's kirigami, not origami. Origami only uses folds
Origami | The Art of Paper Folding
Welcome to the Origami community!
This is a place for sharing finished origami projects, asking questions or simply talking to others about this wonderful hobby. It doesn't matter whether you're a beginner, intermediate or expert, this place is for all origamists alike!
When showing a finished project, please share the source diagrams or video whenever possible - either by posting a link (if it's a website or file) or by naming the title of the book, so others can try it too.
Kirigami (an origami variant where you don't only fold but also cut the paper) is welcome as well, but please mark your posts accordingly by putting [Kirigami] in the beginning of your title.
Other than that, please be respectful and nice to others! Thank you and have a nice stay!

Yeah, I thought about how to handle this origami-kirigami situation... I guess I would allow kirigami for now since it is quite close to origami and we need the content for this community, but I can see the point of it not being "proper" origami.
Therefore I would propose the idea of marking kirigami posts as such. The option of flairs for posts like in Reddit would be nice, but I haven't seen the function in Lemmy yet (hopefully in the future), but we can make a note in the title.
@biscoot, would it be okay for you to edit your post by putting [Kirigami] at the beginning of the title?
Can do! I didn't know what Kirigami is, so my bad. Can we add some info about it in the side bar possibly?
Thank you very much! And don't worry, I've learned about kirigami only a few months ago as well, and it can be very similar to origami apart from making cuts, so your contribution is absolutely welcome here :) And yup, I'll make a note about that in the sidebar right now!
