@thegiddystitcher @discworld I have a family recipe for soda bread, that, if properly aged, makes a passable imitation of Dwarf Bread.
We once dented a wooden table with it, then sanded out the dent, using the cut side.
A community for all things related to the Discworld series of books by Sir Terry Pratchett.

@ShinyBlueThing @discworld This is the greatest thing
@thegiddystitcher @discworld I kind of want to do this (as I suspect I'll be too busy otherwise to participate), except that the final step of the recipe would be "age in dry heat until petrified" and soda bread never seems to last that long in my house.
If anyone else wants to try, just make an Irish soda bread with wholegrain flour, leave out the dried fruits if your recipe calls for it, and let it dry out. For use in woodworking, cut rough slices before ageing.
@thegiddystitcher @discworld So I probably found the crocheteers graal for that project:

You may want to add it to the google doc. #DiscworldMAL
@thegiddystitcher
I make Kindness Rocks (https://www.thekindnessrocksproject.com/).
I'd love suggested Discworld quotes that are uplifting and short. Short as in fitable on a river rock 🪨
The classic (though maybe not necessarily uplifting) would be "I ATEN'T DEAD" from Granny Weatherwax's famous sign
@discworld My personal plan is a pair of Eskarina Socks (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/eskarina-socks) and a cross stitched Errol (https://www.ebay.com/itm/122196806696)
But am admittedly rethinking my self-imposed "no shawls" rule due to this https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lady-margolatta 🤔
I love the socks!
@thegiddystitcher @discworld looking forward to see what comes. I know of Discworld, but I have actually not read any of them. Maybe I should add it to the list...
@annascrafts @discworld Reading your first DW book should totally count for the makealong somehow.
You'd be making...um...treasured literary memories? 😅
@thegiddystitcher @discworld If a paintalong counts, and if I manage to actually pick up a paintbrush and work on my Discworld figures, I'll keep this in mind :D
Heads up about Ravelry - when posting links I warn people with neurological issues like seizures and migraines that the site still isn’t safe. One has to get through an animated page and the new, potentially harmful design before enabling accessibility mode.

@thegiddystitcher @discworld I was intending on buying this huge Lyndisfarne discworld map pattern. Now I have a reason. To control my spending, I'll only buy it if I finish my current WIP by the end of November. So now I have motivation to tone down my Divinity addiction and do something with my hands.
Michelle! You like discworld too? Did we just become best friends??? I'm in.
I found this https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/discworld-land-under-wave-scarf
I love the motif, and want to do something Chalk related (I already have a Hare through Flame tattoo) but I don't know if I'm ready to jump into double knitting.
@Timecircleline Oh that is cool! I've actually never tried double knitting so can't advise there, but all I'll say is a month ago you probably didn't think socks would be so easy either...
I'm planning on making Tiffany's Invisible Witch Hat hey look I'm done 👍
@aubrianne @discworld No fair you started a day early!
@thegiddystitcher @discworld haha it started as a joke but now I kind of want to make some kind of ethereal lace witch hat
