oh absolutely. golden kamuy is incredible anime nonsense, and the transphobia doesn't personally bother me as much as a lot of similar examples (though obviously if it's a deal breaker for anyone i do not judge them) ::: spoiler discussing the transphobia ok so many of the main characters escaped from a max security prison at the start of the 20th century, so much of the cast is violent criminals. even the people who didn't escape from jail are mostly violent freaks (positive). like, there's a guy who cums whenever he thinks he's about to die and who is constantly fantasizing about getting sawed in half, or a guy who makes incredibly high quality clothes out of human leather and does avant garde fashion shows with them

the one trans woman in the series is ienaga. her deal is that she is a cannibal who eats body parts she wants to have, believing that this will give her those traits. this would normally be incredibly evil transphobic bullshit, except this works. we see her voice change after eating someone's vocal chords, and we see how well her transition is going for her (she looks amazing). iirc the series mostly respects her identity, and those 2 things make me genuinely really like her. she's incredibly problematic as trans rep, but i love her. if it works it works! we should just let her eat people

also the author released official dick size rankings and hers was one of the biggest, which is very gratifying to me
