Yay, they haven't really just started making them. The anti-consumer business decisions just haven't reached the critical threshold yet.
I honestly thought Windows 10 would be the threshold. I was terribly, terribly, mistaken. Now they know what they can get away with, and it will get much worse. There is no threshold, it's more of an event horizon.
It may take just that. My event horizon happened a few months ago when I permanently ditched Windows. I permanently ditched it after learning all of my games could be played via Steam and Proton on Linux. Good riddance!
I'm taking the first baby steps in the same direction, had my Deck for almost a year now, about to put Endeavour on an old netbook to have a second device running KDE
