π¬π§ A community for the Dutch dog breed kooikerhondje. This lovely mid-sized dog breed was originally bred to assist in catching ducks.

Adorable :) Enjoy the puppy phase! She'll grow up quickly!
I love kooikerhondje dogs. I don't have one, but I want to see more. Posting to keep the community alive. I wish more people would post.
I have raised a puppy before and puppy phase is amazing, even with supersharp tiny teeth and piddles. Maybe in the future...
Do you ever shorten the dog breed name? To what? Kookies?
I think it's already pretty amazing we have at least three people with kooikerhondjes on lemmy :) Small steps, hopefully more will join in time.
I most often say "kooikertje" (dutch, diminuitive) or "kooiker" (which technically is wrong because that would refer to the handler rather than the dog, but it'll have to do :)
I have a little time later today. I'll makes some posts and see if I can drum up some interest. Maybe there are some owners who don't know about the community or people like me who love dogs and have subbed to many breed communities.
