Rules

Rules:

Treat everyone with respect. All people are created equal and should be treated as such. It is natural that people have different opinions, however, please stick to basic discussion etiquette; disagreement is fine, insulting or harassing others is not.

All submissions should be primarily relevant to the Mag. Posts that primarily reference other topics will be moderated on a case-by-case basis. Comments are not subject to this rule.

Permissible Content when tagged NSFW: Moderate use of Blood, Partial Nudity, Innuendo. All art featuring revealing swimwear or equally revealing outfits must be tagged NSFW.

Prohibited Content: Gore, Exposed or Accentuated Genitalia (including if covered by clothing), Excessively Exposed Breasts, Express or Strongly Implied Sexual Activity, Posing or Context (Including text), Cropped/Censored versions of any of the above content or any other pornographic material.

The OC (Original Content) is reserved for creators submitting their original artwork or handicraft only. At most one OC artwork can be posted per day for every submitter. No self-promotion is allowed in the title or artwork (ex. open commissions). (Note: Inclusion of artist name as a watermark is not considered as self-promotion).

All non-OC (non-original-content) artwork posts should be in the form of a direct link(URL) to the source (the original post by the artist). [Artist name] should be included in the title. At most one non-OC artwork is allowed per day for every submitter.

Do not include spoilers in the title. Submissions that involve spoilers (storylines etc.) should be marked as such. This includes comments, please use proper precautions when mentioning spoiler material.

Low quality/effort posts are subject to removal. The quality of a post is primarily judged by how much it contributes to a constructive discussion. Posts with repetitive content or certain generic topics may be removed to help maintain mag quality; Others determined on a case-by-case basis.

Self-promotion is not prohibited but may subject to removal.

Permissible Content: Cosplays that resemble a characters appearance in-game, and does not feature any sexually suggestive content or context. Deviations from a characters in-game appearance with an outfit that is closely inspired by the characters appearance and/or clothes (ie. Modern, Steampunk, etc) and maintains a similar level of bodily exposure to the characters in-game appearance.

Permissible Content when tagged NSFW: Cosplays that feature more bodily exposure than from a character's appearance in-game but that do not cross the line of the outlined prohibited content.

Post frequency limitations: Cosplay posts can only be made every 2 days. A single cosplay can only be shared once per context. Meaning, If you have multiple images from a single set, setting, shoot, location, etc, they must all be shared in a single post. Images apart of that original context cannot be shared across more than one post.

Prohibited Content: Cosplays that strongly deviate from a character's general appearance in so much that it resembles revealing swimwear, underwear or is overly exposing are not allowed. However, if your cosplay matches this description, but you feel it should be approved on the merits of originality and creativity, you may contact the moderation team for deliberation.

I just don't "get" Minetest devs decisions to change the name and make themselves more distinct from Minecraft.

That was the appeal in the first place. If you're not trying to be a Minecraft clone, you're just another ripoff that doesn't come close.

MineTest came close, but now they're going in a different direction? Sounds like a self inflicted death spiral for the project...๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@[email protected] I do get it. The "test" part always underscored the main issue people had with it: it didn't feel like a game, it felt like a tech demo.

@[email protected] it felt like Garys Mod, but for block game. I like that aspect.

The Minecraft connection made it more worthy of trying for me.

If I saw it with its current name, I wouldn't have touched it because id assume it was another really bad ripoff.

@[email protected] Yeah, but without the breakout hits like Prop Hunt or TTT, Garry's Mod would have stayed in obscurity.

Even I, definitely a techy person and interested in a libre Minecraft replacement, have bounced off of it regularly because it was simply not an enjoyable game.

Which content packs have compatibility with which other content packs is completely intransparent. Let alone balance considerations and stuff. Who knows if I have to run this on bare-bones Minetest or Mineclone (1,2,3?)?

@[email protected] for sure, I haven't dove deep into all the different content packs and mostly have stuck to 2 or 3 of the Minecraft clone ones but that does sound frustrating and confusing.

These changes they're making won't fix that though as far as I can tell.
