Currently have Usenetprime, frugal, and frugal bonus servers set up. Recently I have noticed more incomplete downloads and am thinking about adding an additional provider. With my current providers what would be the best option for an another provider? My current servers are all on past Black Friday specials so I would like to watch for a deal on something new this year.

Thanks

NZB Finder - 2024 Black Friday Deal

Well everyone seems to be doing their deals early, so I guess we'll join the party this year. NZB Finder never did any deals in history so this will be the first :-)

Starting right now:

15% off all plans for the next 3 days using code BF2024 at checkout.

The deal will run from now until Nov 11 at 12AM (Midnight) UTC and there is no need for foolish invites. Just login or register and use the code at checkout (click Validate before continuing).

Login or Register here: https://nzbfinder.ws

Check our plans here: https://nzbfinder.ws/premium

Deal is stackable if you keep the same plan. Otherwise it overwrites your previous plan.

As title says. usenet-crawler (https://www.usenet-crawler.com) is €20 for lifetime. I have heard it's kind of unreliable, and goes down all the time. But then again, it's only €20 and won't break the bank. I have no paid indexers atm, but plan to get lifetime geek when it goes on sale. Also my providers are eweka (with 500GB easynews) and hitnews. Might get a few more when all the BF sales are out.

As it says on usenet-crawler:

Lifetime Subscription (or whatever that means). Between now and January 1, 2025 (offer extended), ANY donation will earn you a lifetime subscription to

  • FULL RETENTION - we keep all our releases, the current retention is at 5927 days

  • 10.000 API calls & 1.000 NZB downloads per day (x200 of regular user) please hit me up f you need more

So, what are your thoughts? It has seems to work well for me with my free plan the past 2 weeks. Also does this mean that the lifetime sub will go away forever next year?

I'm looking at the black friday deals and trying to determine what I might want to add to my stack, and I've run into a question about the fundamental structure of usenet.

I tell SABNzb what servers I have access to (providers), and then I tell Radarr/Sonarr what indexers and downloader to use. But how do my indexers know which servers to search?

I'm sure this is a pretty basic n00b question, but I'd appreciate help understanding it!

I've heard about Usenet for a long time and really just decided I finally want to see how it all works and fits together. in other words, I already pay for plenty of legal media, I'm not looking to find any movies or TV shows or whatever. is there a way to use this that is primarily geared towards discussion or legal media or something like that?

I'm relatively new to UseNet.

Just this past week or so, many recent movie NZB files contain no content.

They download at Kbps and download an empty folder.

The issue is growing worse by the day. What gives?

Hello!

It’s been about 10 years since I last used Usenet, and back then it was pretty straightforward—just get Sabnzbd and a few other tools along with your favorite indexing website account and Usent . so my questions is What are some good tools for Usenet services now? I’m hoping to sign up for something during a Black Friday deal, and wonder if there is a good step by step guide. Thanks in advance

Looks like we are bringing out our Black Friday deal early this year.

You can get Eweka’s unlimited Usenet access for €2.50/month for the first 15 months (just €37.50 total). After that, it renews at €71.88 per year. With this offer, we’re making it easy for you to dive into Usenet with a provider you can trust and get the best service at our lowest price.

Eweka offers the longest and deepest retention across all newsgroups, ensuring you get the most successful search results. Other Usenet providers may advertise thousands of days of retention, but in reality only have a few hundred days of retention in most newsgroups.

Here’s what’s included:

  • 5,922+ Days of Article Retention, Eweka offers access to the largest Usenet archive available
  • Free Easynews account with web-based search, making it simple to access Usenet on any device, anytime, anywhere
  • Unlimited Usenet with no speed caps for smooth browsing
  • 50 connections for high-speed, stable access
  • Free Premium VPN with ad-blocking and threat protection, providing you with secure and private browsing

And because we stand by our service, your satisfaction is guaranteed with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you’re not completely satisfied, you’re covered.

Ready to join the Eweka community? Get started here and see for yourself why Eweka is the only Usenet provider you’ll ever need.

Let us know if you have questions. Enjoy the deal, everyone!

With the popularity of locking in deals with stacking and I know that NewsDemon has offered 10yr plans I was wondering on what is the farthest out everyone had stacked/prepaid?

If you haven't stacked/prepaid then what level of deal would cause you to?

I have several years of Newshosting and I have been a NewsDemon customer for going on 14 years so I may go ahead and just be done with it and grab a 10 yr sub if they offer it again this year just to lock in a good rate and not have to worry about increases.

I know there is always a chance of a business going out of business but in the grand scheme of things the chance is not that great and the $ involved aren't that big.

Make sure you aren't being currently overcharged:

  • Check to see when your membership renews from last year. You do not want to renew a day before black Friday if the deals are better this year.
  • Check your current membership to see if the price has been raised. You may not even know it.
  • Check to make sure you are not currently paying something crazy for your existing subscription. If so, cancel it now and get a better deal.
  • If you were price raised, look for a better deal. Many were price raised as much as $24/year which is less than what some providers are offering now.

Finding the right Black Friday Deal:

  • If you sign up for a deal that renews for a higher rate than the signup price, cancel that as soon as you sign up. Black Friday deals seem to be getting better every year.
  • Wait until Black Friday to purchase, that is when the deals are all available and you can make your best choice.
  • Blocks are your friend if you are not a heavy user. A 1TB block will go a long way for a lot of people.
  • Some providers do price matching.
  • You do not need a block and an unlimited account on the SAME backbone. This is marketing fluff.
  • Some providers offer access to multiple backbones.
  • You do not need VPN with usenet unless you are posting. More marketing fluff.

Best Practices for Choosing Provider:

  • Multiple indexers and multiple backbones provides the absolute best setup if you want to fully experience usenet.
  • There are two types of takedowns, DMCA and NTD.
  • NTD and DMCA both get the same take downs but some take longer to remove. This is also true of some backbones. Some backbones remove within minutes or hours of the post.
  • Some providers have reps on this board who help out. Ask them questions if you need.
  • If you only use automation, you can probably just look for the cheapest provider since all providers are really good when used with automation.
  • Consider supporting resellers (sites that are not owned by the backbones). Resellers have been a part of usenet for a very long time and are being driven out of the market. They have the same service as the main providers and often provide a more personalized experience. Usenet needs to be diverse to survive.
  • Do not pay attention to online review sites or ratings. Those are sometimes (usually) paid for. Real users giving real experiences is more accurate.
  • Almost everything is reposted ever so often. With the right backbone/indexer coverage, you are likely to find most everything except the most obscure items.

Indexers:

  • This is the time of year to get into a lot of indexers who are not usually open. Create a list of the indexers you are interested in and pay attention.
  • You really need to use the "*arr suite" and rely on automation as much as possible.

I re-joining the unsenet world after about a decade. I started out for a couple of weeks with a 1mo Frugal Usenet unlimited to just make sure I could learn what I'm doing again. Then I saw a deal for 6TB bulknews block, so I jumped on that.

Do you folks think that's a decent setup to roll with? Mostly interested in recent stuff, but sometimes I discover a series and want some back seasons for a few years. Thanks

I don’t know why I did that, I think I just didn’t turn my brain on lol. I even have parts of my name and year of birth in the address.

I use a random Apple Relay email address for ProtonVPN, so the only real risk is the mail address I used for Eweka and the one I use for PayPal to pay Eweka for the access.

How risky is that regarding anonymity?

I bought the Eweka 2 year plan but I think I still have the possibility to get my money back, delete that account and create another account with a ProtonMail Account.

The PayPal address will still be the same.

I wish I could create another random Apple Relay mail address for Eweka, but it doesn’t seem to work for some reason.

As usual, instead of just having a sale for Black Friday, we have one for the whole of November. Enjoy 20% off during this month. Donations can be stacked by up to 3 years at the time of paying. Multiple payments will also be stacked.

Happy to delete post once there is a sale thread.

Title. Can i excpect to save a lot of money by waiting? I am thinking about buying the frugal deal which is either $40USD for 1 year + 300GB block on Blocknews, or $45USD for 1 year + 750GB on Blocknews.

I have never used usenet before, only torrenting. I managed to register on DrunkenSlug when they had open registration last week. I am thinking about going free there, and maybe get a lifetime on Geek. What would you recommend me to do? Wait, buy now, get a completly other provider and indexer?

Also I have setup NZBget, but I also got the free key for Newsbin. Are these clinets good? Which one should I use? Something else?

EDIT: It seems to have sorted itself out now, support from Frugal has been great, sorry for wasting anyone's time.

Hello,

I just bought Frugal Usenet and thinking about getting a refund.

I was previously on Tweaknews but cancelled due to them doubling the price after 4 years.

On Tweaknews I would get around 80-88 MB/s download.

On frugal I'm only getting 15.

The other issue I'm having is I'm getting a lot more "missing articles" on Frugal. Stuff I could download on tweaknews I cannot on Frugal even with the bonus server.

Am I doing something wrong or do you guys recommend another provider? I tried messing with the connections. I used 60 on Tweaknews and that worked well but I've tried 40-100 connections on Frugal and it hasn't made any improvement.

Ty
