The Wilhelm Scream is a classic sound clip used since the 1950's when a character falls or dies. Depending on the context its either a funny nod to the audience from the sound crew or its a sound effect that completely pulls you out the film and shouldnt be used.

I was watching Dante's Peak yesterday. Near the end of the film there is a serious, emotional death scene that is completely ruined in that moment by using a wilhelm scream. I spent the next 5 minutes of the film being angry.

For those that have seen the film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCQXqhvICUU

What's your case for worst use of the scream?

The original post: /r/web_design by /u/src_main_java_wtf on 2024-05-17 21:59:31.

So I am trying to copy the design of a particular site that I like:

https://modal.com/

I am a big fan of the design of their landing page (how it transitions from black to green and black again) and I am trying to copy their bg gradient. I tried inspecting in dev tools and it was not super clear where it was nor what CSS gradient rules they were using. I'm also fairly certain its not an a bg image.

I'm working on improving the modal design of my modal it pops up when clicking on the details button and is intended to show the chosen organization's information along with a live Google Maps view with the marker set to the address.

Here's a quick figma mockup of the modal design

I know some elements are not aligned in the mockup, but I'll ensure everything is properly aligned in the actual code. I'm particularly interested in any UI/UX nono that you can spot and suggestions on how to make it look more professional.

Thanks for the help
