Hello,

After upgrading from 5600x to 5950x the temperatures are somewhat of concern for me, especially when watching youtube or another light load I can occasionaly notice the processor hitting 95+ celsius degrees on stock bios settings.

idle temperatures

ccd1 30celsius

ccd2 40celsius

setup is

5950x

x570s edge max wifi (2024-09-09 bios)

corsair rm1000x gold

rtx 3080 rog strix

F4-3200c14-8gfx 4x8gb

Cooling with peerless assassin 140 (also tested with liquid freezer 360, also observed spikes to 90c)

6 cases fans, side and bottom intake, rear exhaust.

H6 flow case

BIOS modifications currenty applied to reduce temperatures:

ECO 65w mode

Curve optimizer. 14 cores at -25, 2 cores at 0

RAM timings

Ram timings

CASE

H6 FLOW

For stability testing I use OCCT. Even after 65w eco mode and negative curve optimizer offset, I can see the temperatures spiking up to 90c

OCCT settings

OCCT settings

HWINFO64 during 5min occt run

hwinfo64 temperature measurement

I can also use eco 95w mode, but that one has higher temperatures than eco 65w mode

Hi everyone, just got back into PC territory after several years and while waiting for the new GPUs, I want to fine tune my CPU+RAM as much as possible. Currently using 9800x3D (stable with -28 negative all core offset to the best of my stability testing abilities) + Kingston 2x32GB RAM sticks (Expo 6000MHZ CL30) which I manually tuned based on Buildzoid timings + experimenting with CL28 (so far is stable as well) however, AIDA64 gives me a memory latency of around 71ms + READ of 63GB/s, WRITE of 88GB/S.

Any ideas what I should try next? I keep seeing latency around 65ns on other reddit posts with faster reads and writes, but not sure if its just an X3D thing.

I’m pretty new to overclocking and undervolting, but issues with Intel’s 13th/14th-gen CPUs have pushed me into it. About two years ago, I built a PC with a 13th-gen i7, which developed issues over time. I was relieved when Intel acknowledged this problem and upgraded me to a 14th-gen i9. Knowing these CPUs have their quirks, I decided to play it safe and applied an undervolt following Buildzoid’s guide for ASUS Z790 boards with the 14900K. It’s been running well, but now I’m seeing some issues I’d love your input on:

after updating bios and going from the x129 microcode to the x12b i am seeing some odd behaviour in HWinfo:

All p-cores are boosting to 6100 mhz during idle

Elevated temperatures on all cores during CB23 - multiple hitting max temps

Hardware:

14900K

Asus prime Z790P wifi BIOS Version: 1802

Undervolt:

LLC Level 6

AC/DC Loadlines synced at 0.49

Voltage limit of 1400 mv adaptive svid with a negative offset of 110mv

Any insights or advice on addressing these issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help!

So I've had my PC for about 4 years and I'm planning on upgrading in near future. I wanna try and play with OC/Undervolting and all but I'm totally new and clueless about this. I've got R5 1600 | 580 Sapphire Nitro+ (Enabled BIOS mode if that makes some difference)

https://preview.redd.it/kjivhlbte20e1.png?width=1133&format=png&auto=webp&s=63fbf4820d0945be7df48482be4f5e6b89e059cd

I realize every card is a bit different so I'll have to test it a bit myself. As I said previously I'm not well versed in playing with OC/BIOS settings so I was hoping for some guidelines.

I have some changes from 4y ago when I bought the PC, basically copy-pasted someone else's settings while having 0 clue what I was doing (pretty stupid tbh). I have no problems to this day (None that I know off)

What should I research and maybe some starting values I should try and change.

It's a long story and maybe my visible other posts will provide more context but TLDR version. Can I turn off an undervolt I made on my now broken gpu using another gpu installed in my system? Managed to get my PC to boot using an old gpu and I thought maybe turning off the undervolt might fix my main one.

i7-3930K, ASRock X79 Extreme4, 32 GB DDR3-1600

I overclocked it to 4.7 GHz in the BIOS, set the voltage offset to +0.1 V, it shows 4.7 GHz in HWMonitor but it only draws its default TDP of 130W and the Cinebench score is around 4500 points, which is the score it has at 3.2 GHz. Stock all-core turbo is 3.5 GHz, so I made it slower!?

Why is it lying to me? Why is it not running at the clock speed that I set it to? I'm so confused.

How do i overclock (and strongly undervolt) my ryzen 9 7945hx. I got The Asus Rog Strix g713 (The RTX 4060 Version). (Please don't be mad and flame me, I still have a desktop PC here next to me. I got this laptop with my internet-contract).

I Saw and still See strongly the potential of this Laptop. I already overclocked The RTX 4060 to an Performance of an AMD 7700xt Desktop. This ist highly The Limit. I optimized cooling with custom Fans etc.

But i dont have any clue bout overclocking and undervolt The CPU of an gaminglaptop. Also i need an undervolt bcs everything says my CPU has full time +90°C No matter if idle or in games. I strongly assume that this is a displayerror in the entire system. Even with my own Fan curve its Not dropping. (Even on max)

Clockspeed with Asus Turbo Boost goes to 5.25 GHz stabile rn while using 0.950-1.2v (so its clocking properly to promised factoryspeeds)

YouTube couldnt help me. AMD Utility Master says my CPU cannot be used for overclocking.

Soooo i need big Help bcs im highly clueless bout this.

Of course I would also sit down with you in discord and you would help me and then I would learn more and new things :)

Dont Flame. Much Love thanks for helping me :)

Hello, I am here because I would like to know if anyone would be able to help me with a concern that I have.

I have currently upgraded my mobo, cpu and ram. My previous components were: Asus strix z790a Intel i7 13700k Corssir Ram 32gb at 5600

Current components are: Asus Strix x870a AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3d Gskill 32gb at 6400

My issue was with my previous components my asus strix 4090 non OC version used to run at base clock speed at 2235 mhz, after upgrading my components the same gpu is now running at clock speed boost of 2520 mhz, sometimes goes all the way to 2715 mhz. I don't remember doing anything at all other than using xmp profile from the bios. I have already check msi after burner, Nvidia geforcr, and AMD adrenalin, they all show that my gpu is running at boost speed of 2520 mhz but I don't remember doing anything with any software. The only thing that I did was no install the amd drivers for the cpu.

If anyone is able to help I will appreciate it.

I think i have Samsung C-die because i have Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3600MHz PC4-28800, CL18, XMP 2.0, DIMM (2x8GB). Im just too lazy to actually take the ram out and check because i have an mini itx case and then id have to remove the cooler etc. Anyways is this a good timing or should i try and lower the timings or boost the mhz more? More, less voltage?

EDIT: The photo contains Ryzen bench time 125.01 and the timings 3600mhz cl 18 20 20 20 40

The 9800x3d seems really good in terms of undervolting I decreased my all core temps from 70 to 60 with the same if not more performance.

PBO advanced PBO Limits Motherboard Curve Optimizer -20 all core

Optional: PBO Scalar Ctrl Manuel 10x CPU Boost override positive to 200MHz

All this effectively runs the cpu extremely cool while running at 5.5GHz

let me know how it works for you, never expected such crazy result and I also was kinda confused. While gaming it’s basically runs at 40-50 degrees depending on the title

so this really isn't a problem because currently i have an -180mV undervolt in (could get it stable at even -200mV for some reason). However at stock settings in Cinebench r23 for example my cpu hits 80-83C (after 30 mins fully saturated loop, be quiet silent loop 2) at like 200W max, perfectly fine, BUT now comes my concern, in occt it hits 100C pretty much immediately and 253W (with my undervolt cinebench 60 max and occt 75 max). Should i be concerned that my cooler is broken? it should be able to keep 253W from throttling.

edit: performance with the undervolt is pretty much the same if not better, 22716 points cinebench and in occt benchmark well above average (can't remember score)

I'm currently overclocking my gigabyte eagle rx 6600 and can't increase vram or core clock or power limit. I still have thermal headroom left since I'm only at 70°C global and ~85-90°C hotspot. I'm currently running at 2900mhz core 1050mv 1900mhz vram and 120w max power. Can I flash a bios for an rx 6600 xt compatible with my vram to increase power limit and overclocking potential or will it brick my gpu ? I haven't found any rx 6600 bios on techpowerup other than the one I already have

Hello. Using ryzen master as purely a monitoring software, what if any adjustments could I make in bios to get the most out of my CPU safely?

I was able to achieve 5.35 sustained, though I was moderately uncomfortable with the temperatures. And it felt a little unstable. But no crashes with repeated cinebench runs.

I went back to 5.1 with some curve and minor tdp adjustment because I don't know enough and don't want to damage anything. High temps only in the mid 60's C Thank you

Teamgroup official products comparison

Teamgroup advertises T-force for performance in gaming while T-create for stability in productivity, but if both kits have exactly the same MHz and timings, they should perform exactly the same right? There should be no difference otherwise right?

One difference I was able to dig out is from a Brave AI search result: Vulcan = SK Hynix M-die & Create = SK Hynix A-die. FLBD532G6000HC30DC01 vs CTCWD532G6000HC30DC01 respectively. I do not know how reliable that AI answer is, and the other potential difference would be if there is a difference in cooling solution for either but I could not find any information.

Which one would you guys pick if the cost is the same?
