I'll keep its short, but back in 2019-2020 I kept pressing my father to buy a single bitcoin, which was around $7-10K. He didn't. I was extremely upset and still am.

Fast forward to today, he's been recently asking about parking $500-1,000 into bitcoin. I scoff at the idea of it because I see it as way too late. At the time, I was a kid and had no funds which is why I approached him to buy. Now he's bought into the hype again and wants to put money in.

I'm frustrated obviously, because that could've been life changing money, and on top of that he wants to get in on the action *now* despite having such a long time to do so.

No one can tell the future, I know, but is it too late? Are there other currencies to look out for perhaps that have growth potential instead of BTC? How would you spend the $1,000?

The term HODL was born when bitcointalk contributor GameKyuubi drunkenly took to the popular forum to let out his frustrations in trading. Bitcoin had just gone through a heart-wrenching 39% drop in the last day. After a whiskey or two, he vented about being a bad trader, and how he will simply hold on to his investments.

GameKyuubi himself noticed the spelling error but never bothered to correct the mistake, for which we are grateful. Respondents were quick to notice his spelling error as well, and the HODL meme was born in the hours that followed.

Even though the post is funny now, many of you can likely resonate with the stresses and difficulties in crypto trading, not to mention how chaotic bitcoin trading was in 2013.

Is it possible the incoming administration is punking us with all the good news? We are getting signs, and gains, leading us to believe things are going to go very very big.. But would it be possible for it to be a big trick?

Some of the old money has slowly and begrudgingly come around to crypto.., but if these incoming criminals are willing to rshort the future to score a bag, and then hand us back to the old guard after cryptos burned, could they..? Are we being pumped with good news while its being prepared for a regulatory rugpull and shorts when they are in charge? I could believe either scenario, but i wonder how much damage they couldndo without the plans already being noticed .. It feels like theyd make more by playing along, but im curious if a double cross is even feasible..

Is this enough characters...?, cuz i know for absolute sure not one person on this sub is reading this far....

According to Yahoo Finance, Crypto.com withdrew its lawsuit against the SEC on December 16, the same day its CEO, Kris Marszalek, met with President Trump.

Crypto.com stated that it withdrew the lawsuit because the exchange wants to work with the new administration to improve the regulation of the crypt industry.

It is possible that Crypto.com has, based on comms with the regulator or the upcoming administration, assessed that the likelihood of regulatory action as a follow-up to the Wells Notice has decreased sufficiently enough to warrant a different approach.

According to its roadmap, Crypto.com is about to launch a US exchange in Q1 2025 and has recently acquired an SEC-registered broker to expand its business to equities offerings.

Hi, I live in the US and I banked with a nationwide bank. Last month I received a phone call from my bank asking why I receive so many transfers from Coinbase which I felt was really weird. I told them I trade for a living. Last week my debit card stops working so I call my bank and they tell me I need to come into the branch, I ask to speak with a manager and end up spending most of the day on the phone with my bank. They said they need to update some information about me and my debit card account should be reopen 24-48 hours. I called back every day since and nothing is mentioned about the possibility of my account being closed. Now today I call to check the status and they closed my account because of the “risk factor” how can they do this?? I’ve done nothing wrong. Have you ever heard of anything like this happening and what can I do to prevent in the future? Thanks!

Even after years of speculation Gary Gensler - the chair of the SEC (still) - has yet to provide an actual answer on whether ETH is a security or a commodity. Needless to say that this "uncertainty" created tons of debates within the crypto community and even within the boomers financial sector

Genser used to teach courses on blockchain tech and crypto at MIT by the way - Yet he always avoided delivering a clear classification for Ethereum despite it being literally the second biggest cryptocurrency by market cap

I guess what Im tryna say is Genslers approach left Ethereums regulatory status in a gray area- creating challenges for developers and investors and even companies looking for clarity. So what if Gensler is one of the main reasons why ETH didnt pump like it shouldve had?

Its a good thing he announced his intention to resign and its gonna take effect early next year but still ETH needs an answer - will it ever get that answer tho? After Gensler leaves - the regulatory status of Ethereum may stay as uncertain as ever

Whats intriguing me here is will Paul Atkins address the elephant in the room or will Ethereums status stay unresolved for years to come?

A huge step for real-world crypto adoption just went live: Zypto has officially launched its integration with MoneyGram, enabling seamless cash-to-crypto and crypto-to-cash transactions using USDC on Stellar.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Zypto App: Transfer or purchase USDC directly within the app.
  2. MoneyGram Locations: Access cash-in and cash-out services at thousands of participating MoneyGram locations worldwide.
  3. No Bank Needed: A true bridge between crypto and local currencies.

The integration uses: • MoneyGram: The physical location for cash pickup/drop-off. • Stellar Blockchain: Fast, cheap USDC transfers. • Zypto App: The all-in-one hub making it all happen.

Crypto needs real-world adoption to thrive. Zypto is delivering it, one integration at a time.

I think that my portfolio is a bit too BTC heavy going into Alt coin season and I want to cut my BTC down to around 40% of my total portfolio. I have listed my top 15 coins below with their % share. Which coins do you think I should add or buy more of and why?

I'm mainly looking for relatively safe coins that might do a 3-5x in 2025, of course more would be nice and I'm willing to gamble with a small percentage of my portfolio, but overall I'm not looking to chase sh*tcoins. :)

  1. BTC 62%
  2. LINK 8%
  3. CRO 5%
  4. SOL 4%
  5. ETH 3%
  6. ADA 3%
  7. AVAX 2%
  8. DOGE 2%
  9. SEI 1%
  10. PENDLE 1%
  11. BRETT 1%
  12. FTM 1%
  13. JUP 1%
  14. AI16Z 1%
  15. ZEREBRO 1%
  16. Others 4%
