Welcome!

Many large instances have been struggling to deal with the big increase in users from Reddit.

Therefor I wanted to setup this server to divide the load. I also really like hosting and managing a server, so I thought it was perfect for me

About endlesstalk.org

endlesstalk.org is intended to be a serious long-term instance!

Rules and info can be found in the sidebar.

Technical setup

  • Have been built with redundancy and recoverability in mind
  • Database and images are backed up every 2 hours, so there is always a fallback.
  • Servers for endlesstalk.org are runing in the clould and I strive to get the best mix between stability and pricing.

If you decide to join, let me know of any issues or improvements at issues and improvements

Lastly I would appreciate any donation to cover the server costs. At the moment, its not really needed, but I would appreciate it regardless.

Original Title: The Heart artifact from Dishonored. Because I'm 3d artist and love 3d print, Dishonored, home decor, beautiful and functional things. There is a metal wire in the photo #1, but I used a filament instead and paiinted with metallic paint. The glass cabochon was bought in DIY store.

@navidrome

Hey folks. I set up #NaviDrome on a #YunoHost instance I'm testing stuff out on. Installation worked just fine. But it won't allow me to create that first user (the admin, sort of) but SSO me in. Which then doesn't work with the #Tempo app, obviously.

Does anyone have any experience and can help?

This is probably a bad place to ask that question since there will be a bias toward having one.

The reason I ask such a strange question is I'm on the fence. On the one hand, I would like to build serious parts for maker projects. I'm not going to be printing Pokemon or some object from a video game.

On the other hand, I see postings all the time asking for advice about why a print didn't stick to the build plate or stuck too much, or turned into a bird's nest, or didn't have good layer adhesion, and worries about support.

In the early days of 2D ink and laser printers (and unfortunately too often now), something that went haywire simply meant throwing a piece of paper away that took seconds to maybe 2 minutes to print. For 3D printing you waste a lot of time and filament.

It seems 3D printing has a lot more situations where there can be problems. I realize there is confirmation bias since nobody posts to say their print job went perfectly and ask what they did right.

In your experience, what percentage of the time do your 3D prints go badly? Was the failure rate higher and it got better with time? Was it largely a matter of gaining expertise or dialing in the printer in some way?

Original Title: can anyone help a long-term Linux engineer begin to support Windows help explain some home lab setup problems, please? involves bare metal systems and system drivers. will happily take downvotes for advice

sorry if I'm not asking in the right place. I'm trying to figure out what sort of bare metal system I can set up to be my own little "prod" server for educational purposes. I was using an intel nuc i put redhat bc it is what I use to support. had a job change and am being put deep into Windows Server/PowerShell. tried to convert the system to a Windows server... 2022... I think can not remember the exact version. found none of the drivers for it were supported. looking for why I can just install the thing and pay for it to work and what hardware I can force myself to use as a server to get better at it. again if you have a better sub to ask please point me to it and ill go away

system specifics for the system that was a bare-bones I made.

lscpu | grep 'Model name|Socket(s)|Core(s) per socket|Thread(s) per core'

Model name: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1360P

BIOS Model name: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1360P To Be Filled By O.E.M. CPU @ 4.3GHz

Thread(s) per core: 2

Core(s) per socket: 12

Socket(s): 1

free -h | grep 'Mem:'

Mem: 62Gi 5.5Gi 34Gi 1.1Gi 24Gi 56Gi

lspci | grep -i 'vga|3d'

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Raptor Lake-P [Iris Xe Graphics] (rev 04)

df -h --total | grep 'total'

total 7.3T 2.1T 4.9T 31% -

edit: note I am talking about migrating to a windows server not like 10 or 11
