I've recently become enamored with the music of Swamp Dogg. The first song I head that really struck me, from his 1970 debut, Synthetic World has been totally destroying my mind with how relevant it feels today. Main chorus has the line "So you see, my patience is growing thin with this synthetic world we're living in." But the line that really got me was, "...and now I find I'm out of place if I only have one face. All my friends have more than two, no longer must you be you...". Within the context of the Synthetic World idea it just matches up so well with the idea of Facebook and social media! I know he was probably talking about being two-faced there but I find the song to fit into context better today than the 50 YEARS ago it was written! Anyway shout out if you've got some love for Swamp Dogg or have other good songs that feel prophetic or more relevant today than when they were written.

I've had a pair of Sennheiser headphones for some time. I've been nostalgic for 90s Pop lately and one auto play led to another and one of the songs that started was Cry me a river by Justin Timberlake. I used to like this song when it circulated on music TV in early 2000s, so I let it play. On bad TV audio the beat is absolutely overpowered by Justin's voice and is really hard to tell what is going on, but now, on good headphones...

I found out that the beat is actually a mix of this really bad beatbox and the occasional random words sprinkled in. I cringed so hard, I think, I have to see a doctor. It's horrible. This song is forever ruined for me now. It wasn't my favorite or something, nowhere near it, but I enjoyed it.

You always hear stories about how you discover new sounds in songs when you listen to them on high quality headphones and how that enhances the experience. I've been there myself numerous times. But this was the first time a song has been ruined for me because of high quality audio. I'm interested if someone has had similar occurrence.

It's an odd thought I have had flash across my mind occasionally. Like listening to Karaoke and stuff I'd fine but it hasn't tickled my mind quite like fully produced and developed song. When I think of this for some reason the phrase that comes to mind is 'I would wish to believe in this lie rather than listen to the truth'. Is this a weird thought process or something?

I know this isnt a lot to go on but I am hoping you guys might be able to help. I'm trying to remember the name of a song from the late 90's- warly 2000's. It was sung by a solo male artist. More pop style i think. I can't remember any of the lyrics but the music video was him following around his girlfriend and it seemed like she was ignoring him when it turned out at the end she went to his grave and he was dead the whole time.

Stay in-tune: No off-topic posts.

Submissions relating to statements/actions by musicians not relevant to their musical work are not allowed. Articles discussing events in musician's lives are subject to mod discretion.

Looking at the front page of this subreddit it feels this is really slipping, I know the "Mod Discretion" clause can get a lot wiggle room, but maybe it is time to revisit this?
