Moved in with the partners parents right as Covid hit which really helped us not feel depressed about being out in the middle of nowhere unable to go out because we were saving so intensely and nobody could go out anyway.

Moved from an apartment to the in laws to my own mothers to an apartment and back to the in laws over the last couple of years and had lots of building delays. Hell I even got made redundant earlier in the year but everything has come good in the end and we pick up our keys tomorrow!

I know lots of people give out and say it’s impossible but we managed it so just want people to know there are success stories out there.

I work where I have to answer the phone occasionally and take numbers of people to pass on messages and a lot of Dublin people leave out the 01 when giving you the phone number,

e.g.

their phone number will be 01-123456,

and on the phone they will give it out as 123456.

which would be only usable by Dublin landlines, not everyone lives in Dublin (I live in kildare for example I can't call you without the 01).

surely they would have learnt it off including the 01, so do they do it just to annoy people?

Drives me nuts.

Edit: I'm talking work landlines here, I know you haven't used a home landline in years, I'm not talking about those. Most offices still use landlines

Also my office is in Kildare. They called my number, 045, so they would have known I wasn't in Dublin.

Had to go to limerick today for a job interview today. Left the place feeling a bit hungry and decided to stop at sambros sandwiches. Ordered what was to be the best reuben sandwich I've had in absolute ages. The staff were freaking lovely too and I even got a heap of crisps with my sandwich which I wasn't expecting. Just all around a really good eat. Would totally recommend stopping by if you're ever out and about in limerick.

Was working through an agency, been there since December thought that it was a sweet gig. Had also started seeing a nice girl and things were great. The work was okay, usually it was a bunch of lads who fucked about, didn't do much work and we're very good at skiving. Or nights where it was me and this really funny, sound baii but a bit lazy and annoying.

I've been a grafter all my life. So I put my back into the work as much as I could. Everything seemed well, everyone seemed to like me. My girlfriend at the time started experiencing extreme symptoms of bipolar, we ended up getting into some messy rows.

Eventually we just had to break it off, we'd moved in together by that stage so the process was just so much more complicated. I still keep in touch with her as a friend and try to be there to support her through any episodes or just shitty days, but it can be kind of heavy sometimes.

Oh yeah my father's dying slowly and painfully as well, but he's been drunk most of my life so other than being forced into caring for him we don't have much of a relationship.

Aye so got the phonecall today. Sacked, I was covering 2 positions within the job. They hadn't covered a shift and were using me to cover both positions. Some days I was run absolutely ragged and had 2 incidents. 1 major one because the lazy fella was absolutely annoying the hell out of me while I was trying to work (funny he did the exact same thing and didn't even get a warning). Then a very minor incident a few weeks later.

Given absolutely no notice.

Fuck my life. Sincerely a disgruntled ex-employee.

So, I moved into a new apartment last month (only took me a year, thanks housing crisis) and since then three cats showed up. Stupid me thinking they had owners I let them in for a visit and some food. Now they've basically moved in. I found out the owner of at least two of them lives down the road from me but has essentially abandoned them, she doesn't feed them or let them in or interact with them in any way.

One of the cats, a ginger female, I brought her to the vet to find out she was heavily pregnant but too small to give birth safely so sadly I had to choose to have her spayed and her kittens euthanised for her safety and her kittens. I'm so mad at the shitty owner for leaving me to make that decision and for kittens having to be euthanised. One of the cats is an unneutered male and he's most likely the father. I want to get him neutered too but I don't drive and I have Cystic Fibrosis and BPD so it's been tough enough trying to get the ginger girl to and from the vets. The third cat is a little calico and she's maybe only 5 months old, the other two seem quite young as well, probably 1 or 2 years old. I doubt she's neutered and I need to get her sorted or there will be even more kittens around.

I am pissed off not one fucking person in this massive estate I live in could bother their arse to help these cats so it's left to me. I'm on disability allowance and don't have a car or much money and yet I'm trying to do something. I contacted a foster charity who literally replied saying "we are useless at fostering or finding homes for cats". The CAT did help me pay for the spaying but I'm the one paying for cay food, litter, a litter tray, scratching post, carrier and so on. I'm also the one expected to look after these cats as they recover from being neutered. Like what the fuck is wrong with Irish people. These are lovely friendly cats but the black one just pissed all over my bathroom wall and I'm at the end of my tether. I don't blame him, I blame irresponsible owners.

I'm going to keep the ginger girl but I'm trying to rehome the other two. Just needed to rant about people who are crap with animals but somehow keep getting pets and then abandon them.

Hey there,

I won't lie, I'm at best a casual fan of GAA. But I was just thinking in my head about all the classic premier league moments I can reference or lookup at a moments notice, and then felt like somewhat of a traitor in that I couldn't think of many similar moments for GAA.

At best I could think of that point by the Rock or Ciaran McDonald scoring an outrageous point vs Dublin eons ago.

Any chance ye could share ye're favourite moments, be they points or hits or whatever, to try and improve my knowledge of big GAA moments?

And also possibly share clips if ye know where to find them.

Original Title: I agree that violent youth are a problem. However, putting kids in jail lowers their odds of finishing school and increases their odds of going back to jail for violent offenses as adults, compared to similar kids who are spared jail.
