I have a couple I'd like to promote, but I don't want to intrude.

I'm leaving for the US (Houston, Texas) with my father next week for cancer treatment (I am the patient). Don't know how long the stay is going to be. To keep optimistic I like thinking about doing fun things - motivates me to think I have to be well in order to do them.

I just learnt about the search engine Ecosia which claims to use its advertising revenue to plant trees. I was going through their website and they seem legitimate on the surface but I wanted to check if its bs or not before using it.

I'm not familiar with how they work or what kinds of data they track and return. Would they be useful to track things like plant feeder changes, cpap cleaning schedules, ant farm maintenance...

Can you think useful alternative applications and life hacks for these apps?

edit: I know that there are alternative scheduling apps for virtually any need. That's not the point. I like finding new and useful ways to use existing things.

Preferably a historic drama but open to whatever. Workplace situational comedy would be outta control but I sense a dearth of those

Currently got all-day sunsetty warm lighting, endlessly-looped tropical bass music, and bottomless premium coconut milk on-tap.

My wife and I make okay money in a middle class area, but, due to a combination of good luck, and contrived to circumstances, we recently got to watch a college football game in the stadium's super executive corporate sponsor level suite. It was awesome. Open bar, amazing catered food, and people networking all around me who are clearly in the c-suite of their respective companies. I had a list of crazy things I was going to say if someone asked me what I did, but it never came up.

I don't mind politics, but I do mind:

• AI generated images
• Porn
• Anime models (all the "moe" stuff)
• Something that combines above (like thirsty AI-generated anime models)
• (RSS) bots that post links but there's never any discussion in the threads
• Non-English content that I can’t read or local content that doesn't apply to me
• Games I don't play (anymore) or will never play

Is there an easier way to curate content? Browsing "new" is like whack-a-mole.

I hate people who wear cold weather gear in warm/heated places

This seems pretty important to crowdsource and talk about, so I'm gonna go ahead and risk violating the no politics rule from a few days ago, because I don't see a better community to ask this. My defense for it not "being politics" is, I'm asking you to keep it to purchasing decisions and how the details of how the tariffs are likely to work, as opposed to who did what. This thread has the potential to save people lots of money if it gets big!

Tariffs are gonna make things more expensive for Americans; what are you planning on buying now instead of later, or stockpiling a little of?

I've been wanting to move out of my Mom's house for a while, and I originally wanted to move to Florida, but its, price, over-gentrified/fake/resort feel, overpriced mmj program, and Ron DeSantis turned me off, so I decided that I will try to move to Puerto Rico instead, hopefully by next year

Everybody always presents laundromats in tv shows and movies as this sexy place where you meet horny singles who aren't wearing underwear because it's in the wash.

But in real life, that just isn't true. The laundromat has angry people who don't want to be there, and nobody EVER has sex, or takes their clothes off.

So why are laundromats always presented like that?

I think the best example is the PlayStation 2 being discontinued in 2013, as well the PlayStation 1 in 2006

I'm on 24H2 Windows 11 with a local account set up, ran windows debloat tool and have CoPilot/onedrive/other data mining features un-installed.

Edit: I have a plan to make the switch to Linux. For now I was just looking for any feedback on how to handle current Windows OS. I whole heartedly hate Microsoft as much as the next, I promise lol.
