I've built up a decent sized collection at this point but a lot of times finding DVD/BluRay special features is pretty hard. I think they are some of the best parts of having your own collection too.

Is there any good tips or suggestions on finding these director commentaries, behind the scenes, or bloopers??

What is jellyfin?

A opensource software to host your own content/media, i.e netflix equivalent with your own movies/content library.

How it looks to the client

Guide:

Step 1 : Install jellyfin from this link on your computer (this is called jellyfin server) , just follow the on screen instructions.

Step 2: open jellyfin from the system tray and share the folder which contains your media and setup an account, leave all the settings to default.

Step 3: On the device where you want to watch the content, typically your android tv or phone or tablet, install the client app

Step 4: if you are on same wifi, just open the app and you can see the discovered server click on it and enter the username and password details mentioned in step 2, that's it you get to enjoy the content.

Benefits and personal backstory:

Very low or no friction to watch the content you have, read no reason to pay to streaming services for convenience.

Can set up this to all your family members they get to enjoy the movie without any efforts.

I have a laptop and a smart TV, smart tv is in the hall. It is a hassle to torrent directly on smart tv, so my old setup used to be to torrent on my laptop, transfer the movie to a hard disk and connect the hard disk to the tv. Obviously that is a lot of unnecessary friction.

Just checked jellyfin, the youtube tutorials of them showed burning movies from cds and remuxing it / compressing it using makemkv or handbrake and so many steps, these are necessary if you are getting the movie from the cds which is not required when you have torrents.

Realised it is an information that can be explained in a minute, hence sharing it here.

I was just wondering if it is possible to pirate addons for MSFS 2024 such as planes, scenery, etc. I know it is possible through simplaza, but they only have things for MSFS 2020. Is there any place to get the ones for 2024? Cheers in advance and, oh, happy new year.

I made Periscope, a tool for removing ads, popups, annoyances, that happens to be capable of bypassing paywall😉. (This post has been pre-approved by mods)

Why another one?

There are many great ones already, like 12ft.io, 13ft, and smry.ai, which uses techniques like fetching raw HTML content, spoofing user-agent as Googlebot, or fetching the archive web. But these techniques have limitation, for example using raw HTML content or spoofing user-agent sometimes doesn't work, and fetching the web archive usually depends on someone archiving the page first.

What makes this one different is that it is inspired by another great paywall bypass tool called Ladder, which uses a custom ruleset for each domain, basically having different techniques of bypassing the paywall for different websites. While Ladder is for self-hosting only, Periscope is a live hosted version.

Example of said ruleset: a rule for overriding headers and injecting script for a specific domain.

- domain: www.ft.com
  headers:
    referer: https://t.co/x?amp=1
  injections:
    - position: head
      append: |
        <script>
          document.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded", () => {
            const styleTags = document.querySelectorAll('link[rel="stylesheet"]');
            styleTags.forEach(el => {
              const href = el.getAttribute('href').substring(1);
              const updatedHref = href.replace(/(https?:\/\/.+?)\/{2,}/, '$1/');
              el.setAttribute('href', updatedHref);
            });
            setTimeout(() => {
              const cookie = document.querySelectorAll('.o-cookie-message, .js-article-ribbon, .o-ads, .o-banner, .o-message, .article__content-sign-up');
              cookie.forEach(el => { el.remove(); });
            }, 1000);
          })
        </script>

Is this the perfect paywall bypass tool?

No. Currently, it only supports the header overrides, but not the script injection. So the tool still only fetches raw HTML, with the addition of header override. The script injection is still WIP, because I use iframe to load the content, and it still needs some work to make it load right.

Plus, the ruleset list is still small, since I am using the Ladder ruleset, which hasn't been updated in a while.

Long-time members of the r/Piracy subreddit are likely familiar with the bypass-paywalls-clean (BPC) extension. I mention BPC because it is currently the most effective tool for bypassing paywalls, thanks to its extensive list of rulesets. While BPC uses a different format for storing these rulesets, they can likely be converted into the ladder ruleset format, which Periscope can support.

Afterword

If you’ve made it this far, congrats, and thanks for sticking with this overly technical post. Here’s the link and source code, it’s free to use.

Link: https://periscope.corsfix.com/

Code: https://github.com/corsfix/periscope

PS. I wouldn't call this a paywall bypass tool, it is just a web content reader, that has the ability to fetch a URL and apply some custom rules.

The title pretty much says it. In my case I want to upload books, music, video as a torrent. How do I make sure that the files uploaded cannot be traced back to me. For example:

First case: I rip a CD - Is cleaning the metadata enough?

Second case: A digital book or other media file purchased online. How do I strip metadata? How do I find out if my information is otherwise imprinted into the file?

For now it seems to me that the only dead-sure method is to have a dedicated anonymous machine and doing purchases via an untraceable throwaway account. But that is also quite a hassle. How do you guys secure your anonymity uploading files?

Is there a good summary online regarding this topic?

Kinda piracy related, as the title suggests I'm looking for software to help level out the volume of my music collection - it's a huge mix of ripped CDs, legal MP3 downloads and other sources but there is quite a variance in the volume across the whole collection which is getting pretty annoying now - going from several lower volume tracks to one that's about to burst my eardrums!

I'm currently using plexamp as my player of choice on my phone which does a half decent job of trying to normalise things but there's only so much it can do, hence hoping I can find either a recommendation of software to scan the entire collection (20k+ tracks easily) and actually edit files rather than adding tags which software may/may not pick up - or any better suited subs I could ask in.

The new year has ushered in a new era of contracts for streaming services. Halfway through watching a movie on a popular streaming platform I was booted from the film and informed that the "content was no longer available."

I was more than willing to pay money for this film, as I had many times before. But it seems that I am naive fool who thinks that decades old content belongs to anyone who had purchased it before.

This is a total rant of frustration, but I'm done, and I will pirate every single piece of media I can get my hands on from here on out.

Happy New Year folks, an odd request here. Does anyone know a site to watch Australian racing for free? The TAB is taking down VPN users alot, so need to find a place to watch the races. Preferably the sky 1 and 2 channel streams.

What is the best way to run PS1 and PS2 games for the PS2 phat console that can be undone easily or doesn't effect the console. Like I heard about running games by switching the disk, or using a FreeMCBoot card? I'd like to hear about this stuff
