How do you think this is going to affect piracy? I remember that like Adobe software and also some games usually comes from Russian sources.

Anybody with more insight on this?

For those not in the know, Visions of Mana is the latest entry in the long-running Seiken Densetsu, or "Mana", game series (Secret of Mana, Trials of Mana, Legend of Mana, etc). It was developed by Ouka Studios and released on August 29, 2024. One day later, it was announced that the game's publishers, NetEase, were shutting down Ouka and laying off all but a handful of its employees. The game's financial success obviously did not factor in this decision, since they didn't even give it a chance to generate any sales numbers whatsoever. Their stated reason for the shutdown is that they are shifting away from investment in Japanese studios in favor of Chinese ones.

This means that sales of this game cannot, and never could, financially benefit anyone who actually worked to create it. However, the game has not, at the time of this posting, been cracked.

As a fan of the series, I'm quite interested in playing this game. But as a human being with morals, I am not interested in financially rewarding NetEase for cutting the game's actual creators out of the payday for the crime of living in the wrong country.

Put plainly, this is a game which should be cracked and pirated. This game should be a real-life example of the false industry narrative where a good game is a financial failure solely because of piracy. This game should be widely played, and never purchased.

Obviously, cracking games is hard work. Visions of Mana uses Denuvo, so it would be a particularly hard one to crack. I personally don't have the skills or technical knowledge to produce a crack myself. But I'm putting out a plea to the community at large: please, support and advocate for a crack of this game, because if any game should be pirated by everyone with a modem, it's this one.

Just a reminder that if you have 0day access to private trackers and constantly see things like music making programs and photo/video editing programs, hook up the poor artists in your communities who are stuck behind subscriptions for this shit. Keep fresh copies of things on Google Drive dummy accounts for your friends to nab at will. It's easy to do and costs nothing but a little bit of your time. You save your friends thousands and better art gets made in your community.

Every single one of you say fuck you to corporate greed and help the poor, the disenfranchised, the people living in countries that don't let you legally watch things.

It's beautiful.

So yes. Every single one of you rock and I love you.
