Seriously, Alephium boasts one of the best techs in the space. But it seems like most people in crypto aren't really paying attention to innovation. It’s a mid-cap crypto that’s only been around for two years, and yet, it’s already showing tremendous potential. Alephium isn’t listed on Tier 1 exchanges yet, why? Because the team is prioritising groundbreaking tech and innovation over chasing quick listings. If you’re looking for something truly disruptive, Alephium is definitely worth checking out. But don't just take my word for it dive into its white paper and tokenomics for yourself. The details speak for themselves

DeFi: Decentralised Finance. We’ve heard the term "DeFi" a million times, but what does it actually mean? And what was DeFi Summer all about?

DeFi’s been knocking about for years, but it went nuclear last cycle with Ethereum’s rise and all the Layer 2 madness. Suddenly, everyone was diving headfirst into it. DEXs like Uniswap, PancakeSwap, and SushiSwap (Sushi wars anyone?) blew up, and their tokens were minting like mad.

Fast forward to now—AI’s is trendy, and everyone’s crapping themselves over quantum computing. You’ve even got quantum-focused cryptos trying to steal the spotlight. Bit hard to value if you and me as I'm not sure we can really predict what quantum computing will do to finance as a whole, nevermind crypto.

My question is: does DeFi still have a place? Its original rise caught loads of people off guard, so could something else just as unexpected sneak in this time?

DeFi popped off hardest during 2021. Loads of people piled in, chasing crazy APY returns. I won't lie I was chasing it too and thought that shit would never end. Remember LUNA? Yeah, that promised the world and ended up taking everyone to hell.

It has to be said that the large APY returns proved a lot of the haters right... That shit just was NOT sustainable.

What I'm wondering is, do we reckon APY greed will pull people back into crypto? Or has that phase passed?

For me, all signs are pointing at SushiSwap.

Konnichiwa, Regards.

SushiSwap had a mad December, pumping hard and even gaining against BTC—a rare sight these days. DeFi still seems to have eyes on it, and I reckon we could see the hype really kick off come spring 2025.

What about you lot? Any of you deep in DeFi projects? Locking your equity for sexy APYs? And what chains are you betting on for the next DeFi boom? Or is it AI/LLM/ random shit like FIL that you think will get the most attention?

Hey everyone,

I'm genuinely curious about what you all think might happen to crypto prices around Inauguration Day. I'm specifically trying to avoid any political drama here – just want to focus on potential market movements and price action.

Do you think we'll see major volatility? I think this is obviously a quite interesting transition of power for crypto, and I could personally seeing it go either way. Huge drop despite everyone's high expectations, or a continuation of the wave.

What do you think?

Hi

12 years ago I was dabbling in mining, experimented with litecoin. Stored the wallet off line and never touched it until now.

The problem I am having is when I look in the wallet using litecoin core it shows 0 balance, then two recent transactions that says "received with", then the amount of litecoin and then when I look at transaction details it says "unconfirmed, not in memory pool"

In the options there's rebroadcast transaction, cancel transaction and the fee option thing is greyed out.

I've hit broadcast transaction a few times but nothing seemed to change.

I've seen some sources on the Internet saying try cancel transaction but if I cancel transaction will I lose those coins? (if I even have them).

12 years is a long time out of the mining world so kinda overwhelmed on what to do so any help would be appreciated. No DMs, it's a tiny amount anyways so not worth your time lol

TLDR: Dencun upgrade in March 2024 introduced Proto-Danksharding (EIP-4844) which improved scalability and reduced transaction costs, particularly on Layer 2 solutions. Pectra upgrade scheduled for early 2025 (no exact date confirmed yet) will further enhance the capabilities introduced by Proto-Danksharding, making Ethereum more scalable and efficient. It will also pave the way for future upgrades and innovations on the network.

In my previous post regarding why I am bullish for ETH in 2025 along with a review of Dencun and Pectra upgrades, I had requests for more detailed information on Proto-Danksharding!

Dencun upgrade introduced Proto-Danksharding (EIP-4844) which significantly reduced transaction fees for Layer 2 solutions, but lets get into more detail!

Proto-Danksharding, also known as EIP-4844, is an important upgrade to the Ethereum network aimed at improving scalability and reducing transaction costs, particularly on Layer 2 solutions. Proto-Danksharding was included in the Dencun upgrade on March 13, 2024 and serves as an interim step towards full Danksharding, which is a more comprehensive scaling solution for Ethereum.

FUN FACT: Proto-Danksharding, EIP-4844, was named after Ethereum researchers Protolambda and Dankrad Fiest!

Key Features of EIP-4844

  1. Blob Transactions:
    • Blob-carrying transactions are a new type of transaction introduced by EIP-4844. These transactions temporarily store data in the beacon node, which is then pruned after about 18 days
    • Each blob can hold up to 128 KB of data, and a block can include between 1 and 6 blobs
    • This method reduces the long-term storage requirements on the Ethereum mainnet, making data handling more efficient.
  2. Fee Reduction:
    • EIP-4844 significantly lowers transaction fees on Layer 2 rollups by allowing them to store data temporarily rather than permanently
    • This has led to transaction fees on Layer 2s dropping to as low as $0.01
  3. Scalability:
    • By offloading data to blobs, EIP-4844 lightens the data load on the Ethereum mainnet, enhancing scalability
    • It sets the foundation for Danksharding, which will further divide data into smaller, more manageable pieces called shards

Why Was EIP-4844 Introduced?

The primary motivation behind EIP-4844 was to address the high fees associated with storing transaction data on Ethereum, which made scaling more expensive than anticipated. The complexity of implementing full Danksharding in the short term led to the development of Proto-Danksharding as a more immediate solution. Yes, the lower fees made a HUGE impact on Ethereum network usage, WOOHOO! I found L2 fees fairly affordable compared to L1 fees, but EIP-4844 made the fees ever lower!

Benefits of EIP-4844

  • Lower Costs: By reducing the cost of storing data on-chain, EIP-4844 makes Ethereum more accessible and practical for everyday transactions.
  • Improved Efficiency: Temporary data storage through blobs reduces the long-term storage burden on the network
  • Enhanced Scalability: The groundwork laid by EIP-4844 paves the way for future upgrades like Danksharding, which will further improve Ethereum’s scalability

Future of Danksharding

EIP-4844 is a crucial stepping stone towards full Danksharding, which aims to optimize data availability and shard block production without increasing the load on validators. As Ethereum continues to evolve, these upgrades will help maintain its position as a leading blockchain platform. The upcoming Pectra upgrade schedule for early 2025 (hopefully Q1 based on history upgrades) will build upon the foundation laid by Proto-Danksharding (EIP-4844).

What Proto-Danksharding changes we can expect with the Pectra Upgrade?

  1. Continuation of Data Blobs:
    • The Pectra upgrade will continue to utilize data blobs introduced in Proto-Danksharding. These blobs have significantly reduced gas fees on Layer 2 solutions by allowing temporary data storage
  2. Introduction of PeerDAS Protocol:
    • EIP-7594 will introduce a new protocol called PeerDAS, which enables nodes to verify that Layer 2 blob data is available while only downloading a subset of the data. This enhances data availability and efficiency.
  3. Improved Scalability and Efficiency:
    • By building on the success of Proto-Danksharding, Pectra aims to further improve Ethereum's scalability and transaction efficiency. This will make Layer 2 solutions even more affordable and practical for users.

FULL DANKSHARDING is years away, but each upgrade expects to build a stronger and improved foundation towards FULL DANKSHARDING and immediate solutions!

I am EXTREMELY excited for the Pectra Upgrade coming early 2025 and the continued improvements we will see in scalability, efficiency, and lower fees!

"Robinhood has started restricting trading in cryptocurrencies this morning, just as the price of joke cryptocurrency Dogecoin has soared more than 300 percent in 24 hours. CNBC reports that Robinhood users started noticing instant deposits for cryptocurrencies were no longer working on Friday morning, and the company has confirmed it has put restrictions in place."

“Due to extraordinary market conditions, we’ve temporarily turned off Instant buying power for crypto,” says a Robinhood spokesperson in a statement to CNBC. “Customers can still use settled funds to buy crypto. We’ll keep monitoring market conditions and communicating with our customers.”

“ Robinhood’s latest crypto restrictions come less than a day after the company moved to restrict its users from buying or trading any of the popular Reddit r/WallStreetBets stocks, including GameStop ($GME), AMC ($AMC), BlackBerry ($BB), Bed Bath & Beyond ($BBBY), Nokia ($NOK), and more."

Basically the title.

Reason for my question is that a couple years ago I sold about $1,000 worth of BTC that was purchased and stored on Coinbase. Because Coinbase had my transaction history and cost basis, they automatically sold my most expensive BTC so I was able to write off a (modest) realized loss from my taxes in a tax-loss harvesting scenario.

Since then, I've transferred all of my BTC to cold storage. I have no plans to sell any time soon because I've grown to realize that the best thing to do with BTC is to simply always be buying and HODL.

But it got me wondering: If I transferred my BTC (or a portion of it) back to Coinbase, is my cost basis wiped away? I would assume so, but wanted to confirm.

Then a follow up question: If I did transfer back to Coinbase and sold a portion, what would be used as the cost basis when calculating how much gain/loss I would taxed on?

Thanks in advance!
